Musselman’s Apple Butter Baked Beans #AppleButterRecipes

I have said it before but I’ll say it again, I love me some Musselman’s Apple Butter.  It is just such a versatile and delicious product that I try to incorporate in whatever I can.  Whether I am just slathering it on some toast or mixing it in with a dip, it is amazing the difference some Apple Butter can make.

During the summer my husband grills out a lot and I make all the side dishes.  This past weekend for Memorial Day I decided one of our sides would be beans.  Now I have never made nor eaten beans before, but I saw this recipe for Honey Apple Butter Baked Beans from Musselman’s and it just sounded awesome.

So how were my beans?  They were awesome!  The Apple Butter made it creamy, not running or messy like I have seen other beans.  Next time I think I will add some little sausages or bacon, yes absolutely for the bacon!  Everyone loved them and no one could guess the secret ingredient (Apple Butter) but all thought it made a huge difference.  Since I have never had beans before, I’m not sure how they normally taste, but these ones were sweet and spicy.  I think adding the bacon next time might give it a salty and crunchy taste.  They were delicious though, even the next day and the next since this recipe makes a lot.
Some other Quick and Easy Apple Butter Ideas are:
  • Mix with marshmallow creme and serve with graham crackers or fresh fruit.
  • Stir into pancake mix to add some fruit and flavor.
  • Add it to a vinaigrette dressing and toss with a salad for a sweet and savory mix.
