ABCmouse Online Early Learning Academy {Review}

I received a subscription in exchange for my honest opinion.

As a mom of three I admit I turn to technology to help me educate my children as well as entertain them.  Technology has definitely come a long way since I was a kid and while it can be awesome for kids to explore, it can also be un-safe.  I worry about my kids being on the computer without me sitting right there and with three kids I can’t always do one-on-one with my kids.  I have been searching for something safe for them to use online and ABCmouse was exactly what I was looking for. In addition to using educational platforms like ABCmouse, another option worth considering for academic support is the reliable essay writing service essayservice.com. With their professional writers and assignment help, you can not only ensure your children’s online safety but also provide them with quality educational materials and assistance for their school assignments.

First off since ABCmouse is a subscription service you have to pay for monthly or annually, there are no un-safe ads.  So no advertising, no pop-up ads, and no external links to worry about.  Once I open the browser and type in www.abcmouse.com my kids are ready to go, I even created a shortcut which my 6 year old knows how to use himself.  Once logged into ABCmouse, the possibilities seem endless.  We have been using it for weeks and I feel like we haven’t even scratched the service.  My 6 year old has yet to be bored with it and uses ABCmouse pretty much every day.  I honestly don’t mind he is a little addicted to it!  I was worried he was too old for it, but he has been struggling in school and since he seems to embrace technology, I gave ABCmouse a shot and I am so glad I did.

The online curriculum is for Preschool through Kindergarten but my daughter who is barely 2 likes to watch and if I navigate the site she is will sit and soak it in. My middle child is 4 and will be entering Kindergarten in the fall and I feel that ABCmouse is helping him stay on top of things.  Finally my oldest is 6.5 years old and like I said he is not bored in the slightest with it.  Actually he is the one who uses it the most.

The subjects include:

  • Reading
  • Math
  • Science
  • Art & Colors
  • Music

The program is a step-by-step learning path where kids work their way through more than 450 lessons in six levels.  As the child completes a lesson he is guided to the next one and rewarded with tickets.  The tickets can then be used to buy items for the game such as new clothes, accessories, pets and more.  Right now my son has a whole family of hamsters and hamster compound he created and has to take care of in the game.

This is what the screen looks like when you log in:

Seriously there is so much available and the way the lessons go, its fun and makes kids want to keep going.  My goal is to have my kids play this for at least 20 minutes a day, and I have never had to tell them they need to do more.  The levels are designed for your kids specific ages and the activities even have different levels of easy to hard.  For example, the puzzles can be anywhere from a few big pieces to a whole bunch of small pieces that kids need to turn around.  The lessons are developed too through recommendations of early childhood experts.    Want to monitor your child?  There is a Parents Account that parents can log into to see what their kids are doing, block activities that your kids may be doing too much and even earn tickets yourself to reward your kids!

And some more screenshots:

Would I recommend ABCmouse? Absolutely!  I think you’d really get your money worth if you have multiple kids or a younger child though as older kids (like around 6) may start to want to do other things – although my son doesn’t mind it!  You can add  up to 3 kids per family account so like for me for the $79 a year for three kids, thats only about $2 a month per kid!  I admit it does look overwhelming and maybe a little cluttered but kids definitely pick it up quickly and my sons can navigate the site better than me now!  I love though the sense of pride my sons feel when they move along on the Learning Path and “beat the level.”  My oldest son is singing the songs he hears, using the words from the stories and really opening up since starting his ABCmouse path.  We have tried other websites before that were free but I didn’t like the ads and external links, and they didn’t have enough to keep my kids busy.  I love that there is a specific Learning Path designed for my kids’ ages as well as other activities they can explore on their own!

CHECK IT OUT:  Right now ABCmouse is running a 30-day free trial!
