Getting Active & Summer Time Fun At the Park #TakeItToThePark

My kids could be outside from the moment they wake up until their eyes are finally closing because they are so exhausted.  We are constantly heading to different parks to explore new play areas and towns.  Don’t get me wrong my kids are more than happy to spend time in our yard, but I like parks because there are all those other kids they can play with and so much more to do.  About 15 minutes from our house is a 500-acre park that doesn’t have the traditional swing sets or sandboxes, but rather it has tons of big tanks.  Yes real tanks that kids can climb on and run around.  My boys are amazed every time we go there!  We’ve brought picnic baskets, frisbees, balls and anything to keep us busy and active.  I look at it like the point of going to the park is to explore and play, so I try to keep my kids busy.

Coca-Cola wants to inspire others to get active and rediscover their favorite parks so they have launched the “Coca-Cola’s America Is Your Park” campaign.  The campaign is looking for “America’s Favorite Park” with the park that wins will receive the title and a $100,000 recreation grant.

The 2nd and 3rd place park will receive $50,000 and $25,000 grants.  Finally a $15,000 grant will be given to a lucky park chosen randomly.  It is super easy to vote for a park, just search for it on the Coca-Cola campaign website and click Vote.  You can also earn points for the park by Checking In via Foursquare and Getting Active at the park via MapMyFitness.  How awesome would it be for the park in your community to get an upgrade!  I think it is awesome of Coca-Cola that they are encouraging people to get active.
