One event my boys look forward to all year is the Day Out With Thomas Tour. Each year Thomas comes to our local train museum and it is a whole day of Thomas fun! (You can check out my Day Out With Thomas 2012 post and my Day Out With Thomas 2011 post to see what we thought of it in the past years.) Not in Chicagoland, your not missing out as the Thomas tour takes place all over!
Anyways, this year the theme was “Day Out With Thomas: The Go Go Thomas Tour 2013.” The whole train museum grounds were taken over by Thomas and friends.
Here are some activities we did, and yes everything was included in our ticket price! No extra costs, unless you wanted to buy something!
Mini-golf:
Sand (yes what parent doesn’t love a big pile of sand for their kids to play in):
Thomas DVDs (great spot to relax in the shade for a few minutes):
PIC
Tattoos:
Playground (this is new to our museum and my kids had a blast):
Streetcar and Train riding:
And of course the 20-minute ride on Thomas himself:
Overall, my kids had a blast. We spent about half the day there and my kids honestly could have stayed longer if it wasn’t so hot. We didn’t even make it over to the corner with the huge model train display which is usually their favorite. It’s funny how even though my boys don’t watch Thomas anymore they were excited for this so it just goes to show how you shouldn’t assume your child is too old for something they used to like. This year was the first time my daughter (2 years old) could really enjoy it and ever since she has been Thomas-hooked and says “Thomas” all the time now! It so cute to see how kids faces light up when they see the big Thomas train or even just all the trains in general. Going there was a great learning experience too as my boys are at the age where they are curious about everything and actually want to learn more! I will miss going to see the Thomas Tour when my kids finally outgrow that big blue train, but for now I will cherish the memories and keep on getting tickets every year!

totally agree about the kids not being too old for stuff. my older boys are 'forced' to go to things now that they are too old for so that the youngest can go and with a few exceptions they still have fun too!
It was awesome reading a review about an event we do every year but in a different state. I love the big sand pile. We do not have that in PA. Your kids look like they had a blast. I know my children look forward to this trip every year. If you would like to read my review of the Day out with Thomas located in Lancaster PA you can find it on my blog at http://mommycombatteam.com/day-out-with-thomas-june-17th-2013/. I would live to know other things that are different.
It is neat to see everyone's Thomas experiences!
