Motorola MBP26 Baby Monitor {Review}

Disclosure:  I received this product to review in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

With my first child I remember how cool it was to have a baby monitor that lit up when there was sound.  No video, but yes there was lights on it.  Before that baby monitors worked if you were lucky enough not to have any interference from other radio wave devices, and before that there was of course no monitors.  Baby monitors sure have come a long way and leave it to Motorola to be one of the leaders! I got the chance to check out the Motorola MBP26 Digital Wireless Baby Monitor.

When friends ask me now what is the must-have baby item? I always say a good video baby monitor is a must have.  From infants through young kids, a video baby monitor is a must have because it gives the peace of mind that your kids are safe in bed (or what they are doing if they are not in bed in their room!)  For my 2 year old I love that I can check our handheld monitor to see if she is sleeping or if she is okay in her crib and just playing.  Why should I rush to get her if she is still sleeping or looking at her books we keep in the crib.  For my boys, who are 5 and 6 and share a room, I love that I can check the monitor to see what they are doing.  Are they sleeping? Are they doing something they are not supposed (i.e. climbing on the dressing, hanging from the bed – yes I have caught them doing both of those)?  Of course I can go peek into the kid’s rooms but it is so much nicer (and easier) to check the monitor.  I love especially when I check the monitor and my boys are reading books in bed or cuddling with each sleeping.

This monitor is pretty cool.  My favorite feature, other than the night vision, is that you can pan and tilt from the handheld device.  I have tried other monitors but if my kids moved a foot or so out of the way then I couldn’t see them, with this camera I can just move the camera without going into their room.  The size is nice and the design is sleek enough to flow with any decor.  Now you can’t check the camera via a smartphone which you can do with some other monitors but I don’t mind it.  Right out of the box it is ready to go, just open up and plug in.  You don’t have to pair it either, it is already paired for you!  Really this is simple to use but with enough bells and whistles to make it worth the $150 cost.  To use this from infancy and up, $150 really isn’t a lot to spend and its a good investment in your family!  You could of course use it in any room, not just a kids room!

Here are some pics using the night vision, you can see my boys sitting in bed together:
