No More Dull Razors! Dollar Shave Club {Review}

One expense that I feel like is never ending are razors, between my husband and I, we go through a lot of razors.  We both have sensitive skin and don’t like dull razors so I am constantly picking up new razors.  If I don’t get them on sale, razors can really break our budget as they can retail for around $10 each, for a good one!  Before kids I used to be a good couponer and had a good stockpile of razors but I just don’t have the time to coupon and shop the different stores.  Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a mail-order razor subscription service?  Well there is!

I have seen the advertising before for Dollar Shave Club but I didn’t trust the quality.  I thought it was too good to be true!  Well after trying it out, I can say we love it and I know what I am getting all the men in my family for Christmas!

So Dollar Shave Club has three styles of razors to choose from:

• The Humble Twin:  Basic razor with 2 stainless steel blades, lubricating strip, inlcudes five cartridges a month ($1 per month plus shipping and handling)

• The 4X aka “The Lover’s Blade”: Gentle shave in single stroke, four stainless steel blades per month, great for men and women ($6 per month, shipping included!)

• The Executive:  It’s like a personal assistant for your face razor, includes six stainless steel blades, special trimmer edge, comes with four cartridges per month ($9 per month, shipping included!)

For me I think The 4X  at $6 per month seems like an amazing deal to me!  I admit to buying razors around $10 and that was for just one package plus I spent a bunch more at the store while I was there!  At $6 only I could get an awesome razor with four refill cartridges delivered right to our door!  Honestly if your fine with the basic razor (a two-blade razor) then it is only $3 a month (after the $2 shipping is added.)  Either way the razors are delivered right  to the door, no more using a dull razor because I forgot to buy new ones or spending an arm and a leg because of impulse buys.

I got the chance to review a a great package from The Dollar Shave Club that included The 4X razor, Shave Butter and Wipes, yes they have a few more things than razors!

How is the razor?  Exactly perfect.  I honest want my own subscription!  I like the four stainless steel blades it has and that there are four refills available.  That’s a fresh razor blade each week of a month for only $6 total!  To me these razors are comparable to the $10 razors in the store and those ones don’t even necessarily come with four refills.  I can only imagine how “The Executive” razor would be!

The Shave Butter from Dollar Shave Club is amazing as well.  Its not cheap shave cream but rather a smooth lotion that conditions your skin to make it easier to shave.  My husband loves it for his face and I of course had to try it out on my legs.  The six ounce tube can be added for $8, and for a guy I think this tube would definitely last a month or more.  I figure I pay $2-$3 now for a decent shave cream and this one is only a few dollars more, its a nice luxury item for a guy.  The Wipes are flushable and biodegradable buttwipes made for men.  You get 40 sheets in the package for $4 and its basically a manly flushable wipe for guys.

Overall, I recommend Dollar Shave Club and am glad I gave it a chance.  The razors surprised me and the prices are super affordable.
