Interactive My Animal World i-Mat {Review}

My kids love animals, but they are also very much into technology.  Even my 2 year old loves to play around with our tablets and basically anything interactive.  She loves sounds and with brain being the sponge that it is she is curious about everything.  Well the My Animal World i-Mat has everything we could want in a toy for a curious child!

First off the i-Mat is a huge (about four feet by four feet) foam mat that comes in four pieces that easily fit together.  It is full of colorful animals that on its own screams for kids to play with it!  My 2 year old was excited to just to lay on the mat and then when I gave her the pen she couldn’t wait to use it.

The iMat is simple to use for any child as they just need to turn it on and touch the animals with it.  My 2 year old was easily able to hold it and navigate the mat.  She did have some trouble with touching the voice recording button as she wanted to keep pushing it.  After a few tries though she has the hang of not pushing it and just tapping the animals.  She even changed the languages all by herself, which is awesome!  Once a child has the hang of English it is a great feature that they can then start learning the animals names in two other languages.  Some of the animals even play musical sounds.

Since the plan is to introduce new iMats, the Voice pen comes with a USB cord to update the pen for use with new mats.  I love that this is not a one time use product and that we can expand upon it.  You should be able to attach other iMats to this one due to its edges once they are out.  We are looking forward to adding the Under the Sea iMat to our My Animal World iMat.

To keep kids that are a little older interested, there are two games to play.  My 2 year old didn’t quite get the game yet but she is slowly getting it.  My 5 year old though was determined to see how fast he could get the animals in the game!  One game had sounds and you had to find the animal and the other said different animals names that you need to find.

Overall, the iMat is a great product for any child who likes technology and animals.  It helps kids learn the different animals and their sounds, as well as challenges them with different languages and games.  The price is a little high for the initial iMat but that is because it comes with the pen.  The next mat itself is only $29.99.  When your all done, you can easily store the mat back into the box, which features a nice carrying handle.  We have kept our mat out but I know not everyone has room to do that so its nice that its easily stored.
