Disclosure: I received a Tabtor subscription and gift card in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.
My 6 year old struggles with learning but he loves technology so I am constantly looking for new apps for him to try. Tabtor is an app unlike any other that we have tried before. It is an app that is basically math worksheets for your child to accomplish but from there on its so much more.
Once you sign up for Tabtor you get a 2-week-free-trial and a dedicated instructor. First you have your child take the Diagnostic Test so the instructor can decide what worksheets to start your child off on. I absolutely loved this feature. Within 24 hours an instructor had evaluated Aidan’s results and started him off with a set of worksheets. Then after each worksheet she’d evaluate it and leave comments. From there she’d set up new worksheets that would either be easier or harder depending on how Aidan did. For example, he doesn’t know how to read and the problems that were full of words like “Is one more than two?” he struggled on. She could see that he took a lot of time on them and got them wrong so the next set of worksheets she changed to pictures of animals. She started him off easy and went up from there then. This really makes the app unique as you really do have a dedicated instructor. I mean sure at home I can print him out worksheet after worksheet but I am no educator.
No other app gives you a dedicated instructor like Tabtor, nor does it change the assignments depending on your child’s progress. Yes you do pay for this service, its $50 a month but if you are paying a tutor anyways this is worth it. (Make sure you check out the $10 off coupon code I have below.) Tabtor is truly an extremely personalized learning experience for kids from kindergarten through sixth grade. Oh and I didn’t even mention but Tabtor is used only via an iPad. I am hoping it will expand to Android or the Google Play store, but nothing yet. The Tabtor worksheets can be completed at the convenience of the students from the iPad they probably already have with them. No carrying around big textbooks or printing out worksheet after worksheet. Every keystroke, penstroke, eraser mark is tracked and the instructor uses it to help understand the student’s abilities. Yes there is room for kids to scribble their work below the problem!
Tabtor currently has 500 active students enrolled and those students have shown a 20 percent improvement in just two months. My son used it almost daily and I do believe he was starting to get it (math) more. He loved using the iPad and it was super convenient for us to just hand over the iPad instead of looking for an appropriate workbook page and pencil. He loved the whole touch-screen math part and how he had “his own teacher.” He actually got to the point where he was looking forward to the worksheets. As a parent I loved the communication from the instructor. Overall, there is nothing I dislike about Tabtor other than maybe the cost which is a lot for me right now. I did look into math tutoring though outside the home and it was way more expensive than $50 a month so if you are looking for something and like it after the trial then its definitely worth it. The worksheets are basically endless so they can do as many as they want.
Here are some examples of the feedback I received in my email:
And here are some screenshots from the program:
Here is a problem, the blank space is all for taking notes or scribbles.

That you interact with teachers
I definitely like the free part.
I like that the assignments will change based on progress
This seems to fit to an individual child's strengths and weaknesses and that is truly the key to teaching successfully. Knowing a child and how to approach how that particular child learns. That is what I like best.
That there are reports for parents.
