Getting Branded With the Monopoly Empire Game {Review}

Disclosure:  I received this game to review in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

I love board games and one board game that is a classic to me is Monopoly.  It is just a game that no matter your age, its fun and now that I have my own family I love that we can start playing it together.  My boys (5 and 6) actually just started getting into Monopoly, the Disney Cars edition, and my husband is so excited as Monopoly is his absolute favorite game.  Monopoly is also a game that keeps up with today’s games while still staying true to itself.  From dice games to card games to different branded boards and pieces, Monopoly is a game to get you thinking and making decisions.  The other day I saw a friend post a Monopoly game thought that I had never seen before and it looked so different but still classic Monopoly.

Monopoly Empire

It’s the classic fast-trading property game with a brand new twist! When you play Monopoly Empire you’ve got a tower to fill with billboards. Buy your favorite brands when you land on their brand spaces, and slide your billboard into the tower. Every time you pass GO, you collect the current value of your tower, so every brand you buy makes you richer! You can hit the top sooner if you buy an office, so start wheeling and dealing and build your way to the top in Monopoly Empire! Monopoly and all related characters are trademarks of Hasbro.  Ages 8 and up.  2 to 4 players.

Includes gameboard, 4 Towers, 6 Tokens, 30 Billboard Tiles, 6 Office Tiles, 14 Chance Cards, 14 Empire Cards, Money Pack, 2 Dice and Game Guide

When I showed my family the new game, they seriously wanted to play at that exact moment.  This is seriously my favorite of all the Monopoly games I have every played.  My favorite part, there is no hotels or houses to buy.  I admit I avoid Monopoly because I think it can take forever once those pieces are involved and people (like my husband) get a little crazy in competition with buying them.  I always loose as somehow I never have enough money to buy my own houses or hotels and then I end up landing on everyone else’s.  This game yes is all about today’s brands like McDonald’s, Coke, Hasbro, Carnival and so forth but the design is so much more modern.  The game also is so much shorter than a regular game.  To win all you have to do buy up the little tiles (properties) to fill up your tower.  No cards to collect, just buy the tiles and and fill your tower.
Some of the pieces:
So for example the tiles stack up to $500 so if another player lands on your property than they owe you $500,this makes it easy too for kids since there is just one amount:
Just like the classic Monopoly you roll the dice and go around the board game.  There is no trading of pieces either but there are Monopoly and Chance cards you can pick up and that allows you take tiles away from other players.  While the game is for ages 8 and up, I think it is easy enough for younger kids to play too.  My boys are 5 and 6 and they were able to pick it up just fine and without the hotels and houses there was no extra money or pieces to worry about.  This is a game I can play anytime and actually look forward too to finishing!  I was skeptical about the design but I honestly love it and can’t imagine playing the old board now.
BUY IT:  Look for Monopoly Empire at Walmart for $14.77 wherever games are sold.
WIN IT:  (1) US winner will receive the game Monopoly Empire
