One of the characters from one of my favorite shows had her identity stolen.  The most recent episode had the thief caught and the character explained how identity theft is another form of murder.  She lost her credit score, had to get a state-appointed allowance, had her credit cards all canceled, and that was just some of the issues she was facing.  Yes I know that was just a television character but I assume it is pretty much the same for people in real life.

Knock on wood, I haven’t had any issues with identity theft but I have had fraud charges that luckily my credit card companies have caught.  With the holidays ending and a new year beginning, the last thing I want to think about is Identity Fraud.  According to a survey done by Javelin Strategy & Research, there was one incident of ID fraud every three seconds in 2012.  The holiday season can be especially dangerous because consumers are distracted with shopping and wrapping up the end of the year to make sure they are keeping their confidential information safe.
