Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids Tablet {Review} – LOVE IT!

Disclosure:  I received the product below in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

As a mom of three kids, I admit I rely on tablets to entertain them often.  While we are waiting at appointments, running errands and just downtime at home, yes I let my kids use our tablets.  We have tried many tablets from strictly kids games ones to educational only ones to regular adult ones with kids games on it, but I have often wished there was something that combined the PRO’s of all of them into one.

What I wanted from a kids tablet:

  • Durable but not babyish looking
  • Kid friendly but something they can grow with
  • Able to play whatever games they like from the Play store – of course I’d still have the control in adding them
  • Parental controls
  • Able to be something I could use in a pinch if I needed to

Could such a thing exist?  Yep the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids 7 inch Tablet is all that and then some!  It is seriously my family’s new favorite tablet.  I cannot think of one thing I don’t like about it and I am super impressed with all that is packed in for just around $200.  I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a family tablet that kids as young as 3 years old can use safely.

Features of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids Tablet that I love:

  • Kid friendly mode with easy buttons and menus for them
  • Parental controls by switching to Parent Mode, includes time management controls
  • Rubber case that is made of non-toxic materials but still gives it a good coating and a handle.  The case also allows it to be stand up for watching videos or easier touchscreen access.
  • Includes attached chunky stylus
  • Games already on it including Toca Train, Wipeout, Fruit Ninja, Toy Story: Smash It! and Where’s My Perry? and more.
  • Includes Educational apps as well including I Learn With Ocean as well as Dolphin Reader, Inventions 2 and Kids Planet Discovery.
  • Easily switches to Parent Mode by typing in a password.  Screen looks like any other adult tablet does!  Switch back to Kid Mode by tapping a button.
  • Uses Android Jelly Bean operating system (I love me some Android!)
  • Front and rear camera
  • WiFi (up to around 5 hours of use for the Internet on battery)

Carrying handle built in!

Picture I took of my boys with the camera, pretty good resolution!

We love the coloring app!

Stands on its own!

Overall, this tablet is seriously amazing!  My boys use it pretty much daily and even my almost 3 year old is showing interest in the educational apps.  I love that I can download any games from the Play Store.  A few of our tablets either use their own app store with limited games and apps, and while that is great it does limit the tablets use.  The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids Tablet has also become my favorite tablet for using after my kids go to bed.  Its 7-inch size is awesome for quickly checking my email, browsing a site or even reading a book.  This really is a regular adult tablet that snaps in the kid-friendly case and has a Kid Mode button.  If you want a tablet to grow with your child, this is definitely one to use.  Once they are more careful with it, you could even remove the case and keep it in Adult Mode, you’d never know it used to be a kid tablet!

I made a quick video too:

BUY IT:  Check out the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids Tablet currently on the Samsung store for $219.99 or check out the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids Edition (7-Inch with Carrying Case and Stylus) on Amazon.

  • OMG!!! Just wasted money on another tablet and my daughter refuse to use it! I wish that I knew about this tablet because it is perfect for kids! LESSON LEARNED!!!! Showed the photo & video to my daughter and she loves the bright colors of the case. She became more excited watching the video than she did when I gave her the tablet that I purchased for her. I myself love the case.Perfect for little hands!!!! AMAZING

  • Love that carrying handle. They were thinking when they added that to a child's tablet. I like that it has parental controls like time management!
