Hello Kitty is Keeping it Cool & Moist in My Daughter’s Room {Review}

Did you know that young children commonly get about 6 – 8 colds and upper respiratory tract infections each year and due to the risk of overdose, the FDA and pediatricians recommend not giving over the counter cough and cold medicine to children under the age of six.

For cold and flu symptoms, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends the following:

• Cool mist humidifier
• Saline nasal solution
• Nasal aspirator

Humidifiers help with overall cold and flu symptoms. A cool mist humidifier is preferred over a warm mist humidifier because the water does not boil.

Before kids, I honestly never really thought about a humidifier before.  Then when I had my first child, the doctor mentioned how it could help with the dryness in our house and help my little one’s nose keep from getting congested.  That day I went out and bought him one and one for our room!  Why had I never thought of a humidifier before?  They are seriously amazing!  Recently we’ve had to replace our humidifiers from old age, and I was thrilled to see that Crane has a Hello Kitty Humidifier!

First off, this humidifier is seriously amazing in its design and functionality.  What makes it stand out though (other than of course its fabulous design) is that it also functions as a night light.  Right out of the box, she is ready to work, just add in water and plug in.  No filters to replace, which I love, and you can actually fill this humidifier in the sink unlike other ones I have had to fill in the bathtub because they don’t fit in the sink.  The humidifier is actually pretty quiet as well, I used it in our room the first night and didn’t even hear it.  For a kids room though the night light is a great features, especially since it marks the way of where it is so it doesn’t get bumped over in the dark.

My 2 year old loves her new Hello Kitty humidifier and it has been great for her.  She used to wake up with a dry nose and skin, now she wakes up and is perfect.  I love it because it is like a natural remedy for a cold, which we have had going non-stop in our house for months now.  I am amazed at how much of a difference a humidifier can make in a room, but really you need to experience it to feel the difference.  In case you were wondering, a humidifier puts water vapor in the air whereas an air purifier removes pollutants and air particles, both have their purposes.  For the price of $30-$50 a humidifier can save you in the long run as you won’t feel so congested (or miserable), your skin won’t be as dry and irritated and you’ll hopefully get better faster (less medicine and doctor visits.)
