The Very Fairy Princess: Graduation Girl!

Published:  April 8, 2014

Publisher:  Little, Brown

by Julie Andrews and Emma Walton Hamilton

While her friends and family may not believe in fairies, Geraldine knows, deep down, that she is a VERY fairy princess.

This is the sixth adventure in the adorable, sparkly, sweet Very Fairy Princess series from celebrated children’s book author Julie Andrews (best known for The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins and The Princess Diaries) and her daughter Emma Walton Hamilton.

In this new tale, the end of the school year is here, and Very Fairy Princess Gerry is getting ready to graduate! She always loves a celebration, but can’t help but feel a little sad as she empties her cubby, takes down her art projects, and says goodbye to her class pet, Houdini the hamster. She’s also a little nervous about leaving Miss Pym… what if her new teacher doesn’t let Gerry wear her wings and crown? Change can be hard, even for a fairy princess!

Thankfully, she realizes that new things can bring their own sparkle.  A perfectly delightful addition to your child’s bookshelf.

This is an adorable picture book that it sure to make any little princess smile.  “The Very Fairy Princess:  Graduation Girl!” is just one book in the best selling series by Julie Andrews and Emma Walton Hamilton and I hope they keep on making them!  The book is all about a girl graduating, well actually a girl who thinks she’s a princess.  It’s not that she is stuck up or mean, she just likes her crown and fairy wings.  Gerry does not like that she will be changing teachers and classrooms and is worried, but her new teacher puts her at ease and she discovers she is looking forward to the next school year.  This is a perfect book especially for girls graduating kindergarten as it can be a big change moving from kindergarten to first grade.  While I don’t have a kindergartener right now, I do have a princess and I can definitely see her acting like Gerry.  I definitely see the whole series as something we have to have!  Oh and the illustrations are completely fun and adorable!
