Getting Crafty With Beados – No Iron Required! {Review}

Disclosure:  I received these products to review in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

Finding a craft that my three kids can all enjoy can be a challenge but thanks to Beados, my kids and their friends were able to have a fun “Crafternoon” party.  While Beados are for ages 4 and up, my 3 year old loved them (although she needed help) as did the 9 year old sister of my son’s friend that we had over.

Now you may be wondering what are Beados?  Are they those little bead you create things with and then iron over to mold them together?  Nope!  They are a similar concept but the best part is no hot iron is required, just water!  Yes I was skeptical too but amazingly a few sprays of water and then air drying for 30 minutes and all the kids creations were good to go!

Beados are a new arts and crafts line to the U.S. from Moose Toys that allows kids to be creative and develop their fine motor skills.  It takes three simple steps for kids to crete their own Beados world and character.

First, kids pick a cardboard template (or they can of course just do it free hand) and stick it under the bead grid.  Use the special tweezers to pick up the beads and place them on the grid.  My kids even used their fingers a few times to pick up the beads but liked using the tweezers.

After your kids are done they spray their creation with regular water using the little included spray bottle.  After about 30 minutes the creations are hardened!  I was skeptical over how well they would hold together but surprisingly they hold together just fine!  My kids were surprised and thrilled to have new little toys.

What makes Beados different from other bead sets is that they don’t require heat to mold them and they include little stands and playsets so you can play with them.  My kids could have sat at the table all night making little creations, the only thing holding them back is the limited amount of tweezers and grids.  All the kids kept asking me if their creations were dry yet because they wanted to start another one.

I love how the sets range from big sets like the Beados Quick Dry Design Station ($32.95) and then there are smaller playsets like the Beados Theme Pack – Mermaid Castle ($16.97) or the Beados Starter Pack ($19.00).  There are tons of sets you can add on to and lots of different creations to build.  I see this turning into something my kids ask to do regularly as they really did enjoy it and loved that they didn’t need my help.
