Back to school time means more than just homework and sports, its also a great time to reinforce good social skills for kids. Well Netflix has an original series called “Derek” that is in second season currently. It is a quirky British comedy starring Ricky Gervais in this mockumentary style comedy-drama that makes tough discussions more approachable. Its a great way to foster a conversation about acceptance with teens and teach kindness and respect.

This is such a great idea. I love Mulan and I think it's a great way to show kidness and that punchboard idea is amazing!
I like movies that are entertaining and have a good message. Good list.
I love Derek. The characters are wonderful, and do show acceptance and love at its best. Unconditional. That being said. Many of the episodes are not kid friendly. I would be careful and prewatch the episode to ensure it would be appropriate for your kids before them watching alone. But maybe I am just overprotective. I agree it could be used to breech difficult topics, but the show can be quite crass.
