Football is a sport I am honestly totally clueless about. I know its a classic American sport and so many people live and breath football, I just have never understood it. My husband on the other hand loves football and is trying so hard to teach our kids the game. He would love for this kids to cuddle up with him on Sunday (and Mondays and Thursdays and every other day of the week football is on now) to watch all the football games.
Well just in time for football season to start Tudor Games has come out with a hi-tech version of football that uses technology but still encourages learning and fun through strategic game play. When I saw the Red Zone Electric Football the first thing I thought honestly was that it would be a great way for my husband to teach the kids (and maybe me) about football! My kids are like me and very visual learners and football on television can go pretty fast sometimes and it can be easy to get lost if your trying to learn the game.
You’re the coach! You call the plays! Miniature football action figures move at your command on America’s favorite football game! Red Zone Electric Football is our most popular Electric Football game. It offers the perfect introduction to Electric Football, since all the skills and techniques learned on the Red Zone can be easily transferred to every Tudor Games Electric Football model. Two teams of eleven 3D players with directional bases give coaches control over every play. Complete Set includes 11 White Football Team Figures in 5 Action Positions, 11 Red Football Team Figures in 5 Action Positions, 12 Invisibase Strength Cleats, 24 Invisibase Speed Cleats, 2 Triple Threat Quarterbacks (Run, Pass, Kick), 1 Black and one White Uniform Number Sticker Sheets, 6 Official Tudor Games Felt Footballs, 2 Goalposts with Frame Clips , 2 Yardstick Markers with Sliding Frame Clips, and 1 Ball Marker with Sliding Frame Clip.
So the Red Zone Electric Football is a toy for ages 8 and up that basically allows you to set up the players and “play” football with them. First you have to assemble each little player which is kinda tedious but once done its done. By assembling you have to put little pieces on the bottom and numbers on their uniform.
So once assembled you are good to go. Put the players wherever you want on the field or where they are supposed to go. Then with a twist of a knob you can move the players as fast or slow as you want. My 6 year old thought it was amazing to watch the players move.
The set even includes teeny tiny foam footballs for the player to really kick! They are the size of a grain of rice so yes small and honestly I foresee us loosing them in the future. The kickers have moveable legs that actually kick the football pretty far! For storage we just slide it back into the box, which you could also leave it out for fun or slide under a couch. Its not heavy at all, but it is long (almost the size of my coffee table.)
Now the pieces are not perfect, and they move randomly but the concept it there. It is not 100% perfect but still fun. It is great for kids (or clueless football adults like me) to learn about the game and see them move. You can of course use the set without the electric part as well which is perfect for explaining plays or putting players into different positions. My kids honestly didn’t play with this as much as I thought they would but it is something they may come back to once they watch the game more with their dad. They were constantly asking last year about different things going on in the game, this would be perfect for them to see the plays in actual slow motion rather than fast on the screen. Not sure if I would pay $50 for this as my boys are not huge football fans, but it may be worth it for others.
Here is a quick video to show how they move:
