Ghoulish and Gross Cars? Hello Monster 500! {Review}

Disclosure:  I received the products below to review in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

From the moment my 6 year old saw the Monster 500 vehicles, he wanted them.  He has always been fascinated with cars but of course as a typical boy he also likes things that are gross.  Well Monster 500 is both of those – its a unique line of toys that feature monsters driving cars!  From small cars to big cars to playsets, Monster 500 has a little of everything.

To expand even more, you can then even bring the characters to life in an action-packed racing game via the Monster 500 app!

Here are the trading cards you get:

I got the chance to check out some of the pieces and my son couldn’t wait to get started!

First there are the Monster 500 Small Vehicles.  Kids can collect and zoom each of the ten 3-inch diecast vehicles, which are available in a single or 3-pack.  Every car comes with a trading card, which also unlocks a monster car in the FREE Monster 500 Racing App.  No batteries required, as these cars just zoom with your hand.  They retail for $4.99 to $14.99 for the 3-pack.

Then there is the Monster 500 Large Vehicles.  These are 4 inches tall and 5 inches long and there are four of them to collect.  These do require batteries (they are included) and with the touch of a button they will light up and play sounds.  These cars retail for $14.99.

Finally there are two playsets available.  You don’t need a playset to enjoy the cars, but of course they make it fun and give kids more to do!

The Monster 500 Graveyard Guantlet Track Set is a racing set you build to race two cars against each other.  It includes 10 track pieces, connectors, some obstacle pieces, a race car and a trading card.  Its pretty basic but it does come with the one car and my son enjoyed the obstacles of the swinging pendulum and the skull end piece.  You do need to attach this to a table or something similar to keep it inclined.  No batteries are required, it is very basic.  I do wish this came with one more car so you can race two of the Monster 500 cars but at least the Monster 500 cars are reasonable (about $4 each) that its not bad to buy this and a car for a child so they have two cars to race right away.  This set retails for about $19.99.

Next is the Mosnter 500 Toxic Terror Trap Playset.  This set is bigger and once built it allows cars to zoom around obstacles. Three “AA” batteries are required (not included) so do make sure you have those on hand. There are different obstacles such as smashing through doors, toppling a monster and avoiding getting caught.  The playset retails for $34.99.
