Powering Through the Holidays With Help From the Nokia Lumia 635 #MoreLumia {Review}

The holidays can be a stressful time for many, including myself.  From running to one family member’s house to another to buying presents for everyone, I wonder sometimes how I did it all.  I admit sometimes I have a helper.  This season I had some help from Cortana.  Yes I am talking about the intelligent personal assistant that comes on Windows 8.1 Phones.

I used Cortana and that along with a few other Nokia Lumia 635 features have made December a little less stressful for me!

Here are some ways the Nokia Lumia 635 have made my December go a little smoother…

Taking pictures with the awesome camera, this one of how my table setting will look:

The Nokia MD-12 wireless portable speaker which after just a few hours of charging is ready to play holiday music via Bluetooth from my phone.  Nokia has MixRadio which is a streaming music service that features free, personalized music with no advertising!

Another picture to remind me why I go through all the craziness this month!

Love that I could customize it to say my name!

Love the reminder I set up through Cortana to remind myself to pick up milk, it is right on my home screen and it will pop up and remind me when its time!

BigOven is another app on my Nokia phone that features over 300,000 recipes.  I have been scoping out ideas and on Christmas Eve I will be making some of these yummy recipes.  I love that I can prop up my phone and go right off of it rather than my big ole’ laptop.

I asked Cortana if it is going to snow on Christmas Day…not happy with the result.

Here are some more of the options from Cortana.  Quiet Hours is awesome as it screens your calls and texts when you need some quiet time, like when I am trying to wrap all the presents and can’t be bothered.

Movie Creator Beta is Microsoft’s latest video app.  It offers branded themes and an optimized editing experience right from the smartphone.  I will be using this after my kids open Christmas presents to create a video to show the rest of our family later on that day.  The app seems super easy and I am sure I won’t have a problem with it.

Here is the main screen of the Nokia Lumia 635, it has moveable, customizable tiles so I can move the ones I will use most this season and then re-arrange them next month.

Fire for atmosphere?  There is a Fireplace app that is simple enough to click on and it shows a realistic fire and even crackles!

To get in the Christmas spirit I even downloaded a Christmas game:

Evernote is an app that allows an easy way to keep track of my to-do list.  It then syncs across devices. I haven’t tried Evernote yet, but it is something I love the concept of and I see the value in.  I currently have scraps of paper all over that I am carrying around with notes…

The News App is great because I can click on it to update myself on what’s going in the world, outside of the Christmas craziness in my own house!

Data Sense is a Setting I found that is awesome to keep from going data overloaded while I am out shopping and running around.

This is a Cortana feature that can tell you what song is playing.  I am sure I will use this Christmas Day when my family is arguing over what song is playing…

How many days, minutes and seconds until Christmas?  Easy app for that!

Oh and a Flashlight app for when I am trying to fill their stockings from Santa in the dark!

Overall, I feel like I have barely scratched the surface of my New Nokia Lumia 635.  It has so many great features and has been really great to use these last few weeks.  For the price of it, you really can’t go wrong either!
