New Star Wars Board Games From Wonder Forge {Review}

Disclosure:  I received the product below to review in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

My boys love Star Wars and regularly pretend they are Star Wars fighters flashing their lightsabers through the house.  Obvisouly I would prefer them to not be swinging their lightsabers around the house and would prefer something calmer like a board game.  Well thanks to Wonder Forge there are two great board games out featuring Star Wars characters.  Rebel Missions and Face Off are perfect games for any Star Wars fans!

Rebel Missions Game

Ages: 6+
Number of Players: 2 to 4
It’s a dark time in the galaxy as the evil Galactic Empire tightens its grip of power. Work together as the ragtag crew of the Ghost starship and fight Imperial forces on the remote planet of Lothal! In this exciting team strategy game, race against the Imperial Timer to complete daring Rebel missions and find the four secret codes that will deal a blow to the Empire! Every game is a different edge-of-your-seat adventure!Promotes:

Cooperation and teamwork
Strategic thinking

This is a cooperative game for kids where they need to work together to complete missions and enter the code correctly before the evil Galactic Empire before times runs out.  You do need to add 3 AA batteries to the Imperial Timer, which the batteries are not included.  The game does have a few things you need to do on your turn, but once you play a few rounds you’ll get used to it.  I think the funnest part is enter the code from the card into the imperial timer, that is pretty cool.  To end the game you need to enter the code correctly four times and you’ll hear the word FANFARE if you’ve won the game.  There is no one winner, just like the Rebels work together, you need to work together.  You have to use your resources such as your weapons and abilities which come from the Resource Tokens and your Rebel Profile card.  Its a great family game and for kids who think they are too old for board games, this game would definitely spark their interest!

Star Wars Face Off Dice Game

Ages: 8+
Number of Players: 2 to 4

Grab the collectible dice cup featuring back-to-back sculpted visages of Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker and let the dice roll! Rack up points rolling special combos of heroes Han Solo, Chewbacca, R2-D2 and Luke. Or, push your luck and “Go Sith” to steal the win using the dark side of the Force! Everything fits in the cup, so take it anywhere. Even a galaxy far, far away!

My boys are 6 and 7 and they love this game.  It is a great dice game for any kid that loves Star Wars.  It reminds me of Yahtzee where you need to get different combinations to earn points.  This game uses dice featuring different Star Wars characters both good and bad.  You need to roll the dice, choose the side you want to play and see how many points you can earn from the dice combinations.  You do need to add a pen and paper to keep score, other than that everything is stored inside the plastic cup.  This is a perfect game for a trip as its small enough to store and simple to play anywhere.  Since its a dice game you can also make up the rules for different versions of the game.  You do need to keep the instruction sheet handy so you know how many points is what and what the different combinations are you need to roll.  I love how they have incorporated both good and bad!  You can even bluff if you want and see if your challenged by the other players.
