Eight years ago even though I was nine months pregnant, my husband and I had a superbowl party planned. It was a big game for Chicago as the Chicago Bears were in it, which hadn’t happened in a long time! Well my son had other plans and at a regular checkup my doctor decided she was going to induce me because I was on the verge of preclampysia. I can still picture telling my co-worker that morning I’d be back in a hour as I just had a quick doctor’s appointment, then calling her and saying the doctor wanted to run a few tests. I said I’d be back at work that afternoon. Then the afternoon came and the doctor came in with the lab results saying they was going to start inducing me and I would have my first baby that night! I frantically called everyone basically in my contact list telling them the baby was coming that day.
Anyways at 4am the next day my son made his appearance. He was our first and the first grandchild and really the first recent baby in all of our friends and family. He was a big deal!
So we went home two days later with our new bundle of joy and had to decide if we were still going to have the superbowl party we planned. Like I said the party was something we had been planning and were excited about. So we decided we would still have the party, we decided to keep baby Aidan though back in our bedroom away from everyone. We did bring him out for a moment to introduce him but as any newborn does, he slept the whole night anyways. We also made sure that no one coming was sick and didn’t let anyone hold him since he wasn’t even two weeks old yet.
My son slept the whole night away thanks to his soft Pampers diapers we were fully stocked on from the hospital and his snuggly cotton Bears jammies freshly washed in Dreft. Its funny how I remember little things like the smell of his jammies from the Dreft and the Pampers diapers that were so big on his little 5 lb. butt! Its little milestones like my son’s first superbowl party and his first time meeting most of our friends and family that I am grateful to have brands I can trust. As a new mom I was totally clueless with so much around motherhood that I relied heavily on brands I knew I could trust, including many my own mother used with me.
Even though my youngest is 3 years old, I still head to Babies R Us to buy what I can for my growing kids. I love the snacks there for my kids, the clothes, and that I can buy laundry detergent and fabric softener for my whole family. Oh and batteries of course since I feel like I am changing the batteries on toys practically daily. Luckily Babies R Us constantly has sales going on with my favorite brands because I tend to go through a lot of laundry essentials and batteries especially.

I was with my niece when she took her first step. I was so overcome with emotion and joy. My husband and I will never be able to have kids, so we live vicariously through our 18 nieces and nephews, but to actually witness that first step was so amazing.
