I have never been someone who enjoys cooking but I do enjoy eating. I think what I hated about cooking was the lack of pictures in cookbooks and how complicated so many recipes seemed to be. I like simple recipes and ones that I can actually find the ingredients for. With social media and so many recipe websites and bloggers, I love that I can easily browse recipes that my family will enjoy.
I have found that cooking isn’t so bad and recipes can be fun. I used to be someone who followed recipes word for word and now I find myself expierementing with recipes. I also have to expierement because my middle child has food allergies.
I have found inspiration for recipes everywhere. From my local area of Chicago to past vacations to my kids, inspiration is everywhere.
Like our trip to Disney World, which has inspired many Dole Whips re-created in our house. Not quite the same as Disney World, but enough to hold us out until our next Disney trip.
Or our trip to the British Virgin Islands during our cruise where I have started expiermenting with different rice recipes and tropical fruits! Nothing too Pinterest-worthy yet but I am getting there.
Like I said too Chicago is another inspiration of mine. Hotdogs and pizza are two classics from Chicago that I miss whenever I go somewhere else. Its funny how when friends visit us, the first thing they ask for is “Chicago pizza” or a “Chicago hotdog with everything.”
Well the Lay’s brand has launched their “Do Us a Flavor” contest where they are encouraging readers to submit a chip flavor. Yes the same contest they launched last time where crazy flavors like Cheesy Garlic Bread and Washabi Ginger were introduced. I could ramble off so many flavors of chips I’d love to create, but one on the top of my list would be “Chicago Pizza.” Not sure the Lay’s brand could capture the flavor exactly but I am sure they could come close and that way everyone could expierence Chicago Pizza! I could just taste the Lay’s potato chip now with a hint of pizza and it sounds delicious!
The iconic Lay’s “Do Us A Flavor” contest features a $1 million grand prize for the best chip flavor idea. This year though there is a twist: Lay’s is asking fans to also include the location (city/state) that inspired their potential million-dollar idea. Later this year, four delicious finalist flavors – representing flavorful cities and towns across the U.S. – will be fully developed, brought to store shelves and voted on by America.
Today through March 30, 2015, fans can visit the “Do Us A Flavor” contest website to view official contest rules submit your own idea for the next chip flavor. Fans can also enter via Twitter (follow @Lays for details), through the Lay’s Facebook Page or by using their cell phone to text FLAVOR to CHIPS (24477). To submit your flavor, you just need to provide your name, flavor, up to three ingredients, city and state that inspired the flavor and a brief description or inspiration for where the flavor came from!
