A Convertible Car Seat Under $50 That is Also Made in America? {Review}

When I registered for my baby shower eight years ago now, car seats were one of those items that were at the top of the list as far as most expensive goes. They were over $100 and I needed two of them so both my husband and I had one in our cars.  Flash forward eight years and car seats are still expensive, well some are but now they also have affordable ones.

Cosco is a company that for more than 70 years has been a leading children’s products brand recognized for its dedication to safetly and value.  They make a variety of products for infants and up featuring solid value and smart design.

Recently they launched the new Scenera NEXT Convertible Car Seat that has so many amazing features, including that it retails for only $46 at Walmart!  The Scenera NEXT is also one of the only car seats on the market to fit three seats across, perfect for tight fits in cars!  It is actually already receiving praise from car seat advocates nationwide for its safety and affordability.  Cosco’s first priority is family and the company is proud of what its workers do every day to help keep children safe.

The Cosco Scenera NEXT has really impressed me.  The first thing I noticed was how lightweight the seat is, in my eight years of car seats this is probably the lightest one I have tried.  The lightweight design though does not make it feel any less safe as it is still enclosed in a hard plastic shell.  It may not be the most plush or fancy looking car seat but honestly it works just fine and with features like machine washable and side impact protection I appreciate it.

Installation for the Cosco Scenera NEXT is super easy since it has the LATCH hooks on it.  I have only used it forward facing but it can be used rear facing as well.

The fabric is easily washed by either wiping it down or machine washable.  I haven’t taken it apart to machine wash it but I love that I have the option.  Everything is easily removed and adjusted.

Overall, this is a great car seat to have.  Even if you don’t need a main car seat, at this price it makes it affordable to pick up as a second one for your spouse, grandparent’s car or even playdates.  It fits kids from infants through 40 lbs. which is probably about 3-4 years old.  My daughter is 3 years old and fits in this car seat perfectly.
