The Changing American Breakfast with belVita

Disclosure:  I received compensation in exchange for sharing this information and my opinion.

According to a recent study by NPD Group Inc., Americans have an average of just 12 minutes a day for consuming breakfast, which is half the time we spend on lunch (28 minutes) or dinner (24 minutes.)  I know in my house breakfast is the craziest time of day for me as I have to get my three kids ready for school and out the door, plus there is usually last minute homework we’re doing.  I have heard all my life how important breakfast is and now as I get older I am definitely seeing the value.  Eating breakfast gets blood sugar up and makes brain function better for the rest of the day, plus it gets metabolism going.  Now that I’m older and no longer have the metabolism I used to have, I need all the help I can get!

Recently there was a belVita breakfast panel entitled “The Changing American Breakfast” which had a bunch of great partners that provided some great tips for having a healthy breakfast.  The partners were registered dietitian Keri Gans, Life Coach Christine Hassler and author of Eat It to Beat It David Zinczenko.

The tips provided were:

Said Keri Gans, Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist, “A serving of belVita (which has @20g of whole grains/serving and 4g fiber per pack), with a low-fat Greek yogurt and a serving of fruit, can be the perfect grab and go complete breakfast.”

Said David Zinczenko, New York Times best-selling author of Eat It to Beat It! and the Nutrition and Wellness Editor at ABC News, “Being that people today have no time to cook, they are looking for options with nutrition’s latest buzzwords – protein and fiber. belVita paired with a serving of non-fat yogurt and fruit hits on protein, fiber AND whole grains.”

Said Christine Hassler, life coach and author, “Doing something 40 days in a row moves it from a change to a habit. Making a complete breakfast a habit starts today.

Last week I committed to Trading in My Spoon for National Cereal Day on March 7th and after hearing these tips I am more than ever recommitted to having breakfast and love how easy belVita makes it.

  • These biscuits are very tasty and filling. Sometimes I'll grab one as a snack when I'm home. Hubby enjoys them too.

  • Both of these flavors sound great. I love that they are a healthier alternative quick breakfast.
