With video games, theme parks, a hit movie, and more, there’s no denying that LEGO is more than a toy…it’s a cultural icon! And no one demonstrates the power and versatility of LEGO better than master modeler Warren Elsmore. In Brick Vehicles, Elsmore puts the “GO” in LEGO with an exploration of the history of transportation. Starting with the humble wheel and rolling through centuries of land, sea, and air travel innovations, Elsmore showcases 40 fantastic vehicles in LEGO form. Includes full scenes in stunning detail, plus step-by-step projects for some of the smaller models. Readers are in for a treat with four fun chapters that cover:
- Road and Rail– From the horse and carriage to the freight train and Mini Cooper
- Rivers and Oceans–The HMS Victory, a speedboat, and cruise liner are included
- Flying Machines–The Wright Brother’s first airplane, the Concorde, and more
- The Final Frontier– Tesla electric car, Curiosity Mars rover, teleporter
More than 400 full-color images throughout. Enclosed with the book are two dramatic 17 1/2″ x 24 3/4″ posters featuring stunning models of LEGO® transportation scenes.
This has become my 6 and 8 year old’s favorite book. What they love about it is it not only features tons of transportation vehicles made of LEGOs, but there are also instructions for building them as well as facts on each page. There is history and resources for LEGOs throughout the book about LEGOs and different vehicles. For example, there is a page about a Combine Harvester. It doesn’t have the instructions since its a complex build but it shows some pictures of one built in LEGOs and it has a paragraph about what a Combine Harvester is. My boys love vehicles and they love LEGOs so this book has been a huge hit with them. There is so much jam packed into it and the illustrations are full color photographs. So much fun and the book is nice and thick, definitely providing hours and hours of fun reading and building!

My nephew loves the Lego's, anything to do with them. He has quite a collection of them. He would think I am so cool if I could win this for him.
My son is a Lego fiend! He makes awesome creations that are perfectly symmetrical.
My grandson spends hours playing with Legos. He also loves going to the 'Lego Build' events that are held at his nearby Lego store on the first Tuesday evening of each month. He uses his imagination to build Lego projects, but also enjoys following instructions to put together a Lego 'masterpiece' :-) I know he would really enjoy this Lego book.
legos gives a child imagination a thumbs up.
