Getting Math Tutoring at Home

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Ezy Math.

Right now we have two important subjects that we are focusing on with our kids: Math and Reading. Math and reading are the building blocks that so much is built upon and with my kids being the ages they are I don’t want them to fall behind. I remember struggling with both but caught up quickly but so far that is not the case with my boys. So my husband and I have been doing as much as we can at home but its hard to give each child the attention they need with three kids at home.

My kids are done when they get home and they don’t want to practice anymore worksheets or flashcards. They also don’t want to work with us, which I get since we are the parents. My kids though always respect their teachers so I figured a tutor would be a great help. Recently I got one of my son’s a reading tutor and she has been a great help for him. His confidence has grown tremendously which I believe is the first start to being a great reader.

Math though so far I haven’t had luck with finding out what to do for them. We have tried worksheets, tablet apps and flash cards but nothing has worked how I’d like it to. In Australia there is a service called Ezy Math Tutoring that actually brings a local tutor to your house. I never thought about a math tutor in our house, but that is something that would actually ease some stress from me.

With activities and the reading tutoring we do now, I just don’t have the time (or energy) to drive my kids to another place, but I could definitely set something up in my house. The tutors at Ezy Math actually go through months of training and are committed to the child’s success. Ezy Math actually specializes in private tutoring in English, Chemistry and Physics as well.

What have you done to help your child with a subject they are struggling in?

  • My daughter has the worst handwriting most of the time. I try to remind her to slow down and not rush through. As long as she has plenty of time to do her weekly homework and she doesn't feel rushed, she does so much better with her writing! So that's my tip, I guess. I try to make sure my daughter doesn't feel frantic or rushed.
