Cirque du Soleil KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities in Chicago @Cirque #Kurios

Disclosure: I received complimentary tickets in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

Cirque du Soleil is coming to Chicago with its touring production KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities! My husband and I saw one Cirque du Soleil years ago in Las Vegas and I was so excited to see one coming here to Chicago. Better yet I was excited that I had a babysitter so my husband and I could go!

Reality is Relative

What if you could alter reality at will? Delve into a world of curiosity where seeing is disbelieving: the world of KURIOS™ – Cabinet of Curiosities from Cirque du Soleil®. The show immerses you in a mysterious and fascinating realm that disorients your senses and challenges your perceptions, leaving you to wonder: “Is it real, or just a figment of my imagination?”

Step into the curio cabinet of an ambitious inventor who defies the laws of time, space and dimension in order to reinvent everything around him. Suddenly, the visible becomes invisible, perspectives are transformed, and the world is literally turned upside down in a place that’s as beautiful as it is mysterious.

KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities is an ingenious blend of unusual curiosity acts and stunning acrobatic prowess from Cirque du Soleil. Let KURIOS show you that anything is possible through the power of imagination.

KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities is Cirque du Soleil’s 35th production since 1984. The company, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2014, has brought wonder and delight to close to 150 million spectators in more than 300 cities on six continents. Cirque du Soleil has close to 4,000 employees, including 1,300 performing artists from close to 50 different countries.

Honestly this show is my favorite show I have seen ever. It is truly amazing and if I get the chance I would love to go see it again. It is unlike anything I have seen before and so hard to describe the awesomeness of it. I actually saw a different Cirque du Soleil show years ago and while I really enjoyed it, Kurios has definitely surpassed it as far as how amazing the show was.

First off, the venue here in Chicago was very intimate especially compared to how big the arena inside is. This show was staged in the parking lot under a big tent and inside there was concessions, different booths to check out and then you entered where the show was being held. There were regular seats and we were fortunate to sit four rows back, although with the set up there is really not a bad seat in the house.

I still can’t believe how the performers pulled off some of the stunts but they did. Like flying in the air over our heads with no net underneath! Or the performers who did crazy jumps that I don’t know how they didn’t fly off into the audience. Every act was amazing and defied what I thought was possible. It was like a circus without animals but for adults. There was constant action and different acts throughout the whole two hours (plus a 25 minute intermission.)

I highly recommend this show for people of all ages. It is a show you will remember and talk about it how cool it was for years and years. I didn’t bring my kids because I thought it wouldn’t be good for them but they would have loved it. I also saw plenty of kids there so if you can do bring your kids. I will say too as your watching the show it is hard not to wonder what the writer was thinking when he wrote the show. The acts are truly unlike anything you’d ever imagine!
