Thanks to My “Thanksgiving Hero” & La Brea Bakery Sweepstakes #ThanksgivingHero

This post is sponsored by Single Edition Media on behalf of La Brea Bakery.

When I was younger I worked at a movie theater and then a retail store, which meant I worked every Thanksgiving. As a teenager I didn’t mind because it was a break from my family and I was getting holiday pay of course. When I finally didn’t have to work and had a family of my own I started to really enjoy Thanksgiving. While I do host Thanksgiving and have the craziness of cleaning and cooking, I enjoy just having everyone over. I love the peacefulness of Thanksgiving before the craziness of the holidays starts. December seems to fly by and as much as I love Christmas I hate how rushed it seems.

While my husband and I are fortunate to not have to work on Thanksgiving, there are many people that do have to work. People who are firefighters, police officers, waitresses and retail associates still have to work. It would be nice for everyone to have the day off but we still need people working and doing their jobs.

La Brea Bakery, the leading artisan bread in the United States sold in around 7,000 retail outlets and chains nationwide, knows how important meals and family time is. Bread is often shared amongst friends and family and may be the heart of the meal.

Well La Brea Bakery is hosting a Thanksgiving contest where they want users to nominate their “Thanksgiving Hero.” La Brea Bakery will then deliver fully catered meals to five finalists across the nation on Thanksgiving.

La Brea Bakery wants to recognize those that make communities better by being by serving others. Everyone deserves to be able to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal unfortunately people still need to work so others can enjoy that meal.

For me, my Thanksgiving Hero is my brother Tommy. He is a valet driver and will be parking cars Thanksgiving Day. This is his first holiday working full time and I’m sure it won’t be his last. He is still my baby brother and I hate that he has to miss this family time. It won’t be the same without him cracking his jokes and my little monkeys climbing on their uncle.

Nominate your “Thanksgiving Hero” by November 15th.

To submit an entry click the “Thanksgiving Heroes” tab to create your form submission by submitting your information and an essay of 100 words or less telling about your family member that you will be unable to share Thanksgiving dinner with.
