Toying Around with Chevrolet @Chevrolet #ChevyShopsforGood

A few weeks ago I partnered with Chevy on the #ChevyShopsforGood Campaign. It was a campaign that was all about me “Toying Around with Chevrolet.” I was given the opportunity to ride around in a 2016 Chevy Equinox and shop for kids in my local area. I was given the task to fill the Chevy and deliver joy through presents basically and I was more than willing to do so.

First I got the car which I of course couldn’t wait to try out all the features. Let me say I love the 2016 Chevy Equinox. From its comfortable inside to features available, I was really impressed with it. It’s funny too because my brother just bought his first car and he bought a 2016 Chevy Equinox the week before. Finally one decision he made that I agree with!

What features did I love?

• Remote start via OnStar’s RemoteLink app – seriously amazing to start the car and warm it up while I was curled on the couch with my kids.
• WiFi built-in
• Easy to use navigation system
• Comfortable seats
• Smooth ride and quiet
• Fuel Range telling me how many miles I had left before I ran out of gas
• Storage
• Decent sized trunk
• Good sized backseat – all three of my kids fit in the back seat nicely

The features on this car are not all typical as some are upgrades or require a subscription fee.

First I started out with a busy weekend with our family. We headed down to the Chicago Toy and Game Fair and got to experience so many fun toys, so many I had never heard of!

Our evening started with some bowling at Lucky Strike Chicago. My kids love to bowl and it was especially cool to them to bowl downtown according to my kids! My brother was nice enough to come along and help since my husband had a previous engagement and with my three little monsters angels I could always use all the help I can get!

We finished the evening retiring at the hotel we were staying at Hotel Palomar Chicago. I have to give a shout out to how amazing of a hotel it is. Seriously it is like a hidden gem of a hotel. They have a pool on the 17th floor and the bathtub is the coolest bathtub I have ever seen!

So after our fun in Chicago, we headed home and I plotted out my shopping for #ChevyShopsForGood. With Black Friday going on I was able to take advantage of the great deals going on and get more bang for my buck! I hit up Toys “R” Us for most of the gifts as my kids and I just get filling out cart.

I also stopped at Dollar Tree for batteries so I could include extra batteries with each toy. Each package was only $1 which made it affordable to include extra batteries.

I chose to donate my toys to the Humanitarian Service Project charity. It’s mission is to alleviate pain and suffering that poverty brings to needy seniors and children in the area. Last year they helped 2,014 children and this year they told me they were committed to helping 1,699 kids and that was just the beginning of the program. Their greatest need was for kids ages 8-15 years old which is sad to think of kids my boys’ ages not getting gifts. Older kids can be easily forgotten about or assumed that they will understand why they are not getting presents.  I had no idea there were that many kids in my own area that needed help.

The Humanitarian Service Project was overjoyed when I pulled up with all the gifts. I don’t think they expected so much from one person and I am so grateful for Chevy to give me the opportunity to bring some good in the form of presents to kids in my area. No kid should go without a gift on Christmas.

While I donated a trunkful of gifts, next time your out shopping for holiday gifts think about maybe picking up an extra gift to donate in your area. Whether you take it to a charity or even drop it in the various toy boxes all around town, even a small gift can make all the difference.
