I received the products below to review in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.
My 7 year old son has always been someone who love to create and build things. Whether he is using blocks or paper crafts, he loves to create things. I will say though so many craft kits seem to be designed for girls. My son is very much a boy – he loves fighting, monsters and hates pink. The one activity I did find that he enjoys is the bead crafts where you have to iron the creation when its done. While I do love his creations I admit I get frustrated when I have to keep stopping what I am doing to iron something for him, and most of the time I end up knocking beads off trying to iron and that causes tears. Well leave it to Moose Toys to come out with an amazing line that is not only geared towards kids like my son but it does not require an iron!
This Qixels set comes with 500 cubes (like beads) and a spray gun. I love that it even goes as far as a spray gun rather than just a spray bottle – it just seems more up my boys alley with the spray gun! So basically your child (or you because it is fun) puts cubes on a pegboard in a design they want. Then to set the pieces so they stick together you spray them! No iron, No Glue, No Mess! I was honestly skeptical about this but it works amazingly! We have had some pieces come off but they just needed a few more squirts of water and to dry. This set comes with stands so you can stand the creations up and bring them to life. You get four design templates for ideas but you can really be super creative with these beads. My 7 year old does this all by himself and is so proud that he can design, create and fuse his creations together whenever he wants, no more waiting for me!
This Qixels set comes with 500 cubes (like beads) but the difference with this set is you get the Turbo Dryer, yes not just a Dryer but a Turbo Dryer. Kids can easily create their own creations or follow the four design templates included. You even get two little add-on accessories to add to your creations to bring them to life and some stands to stand them up and display them. The dryer is kid-powered and you just push a button and watch it spin. The spinning dries the creation faster obviously than letting it sit there, but it is not required. You can let the creation just sit for 20 minutes or so and it will dry nicely together, of course though what fun is waiting! You do get 500 cubes but I would recommend an add-on set of refills as they go fast as my kids go on creating frenzies over here!
Overall, I love the uniqueness of Qixels and how they inspire such creativity and independent play. We haven’t really had any problems and these are so much safer than me dragging out the iron. Kids can really be as creative as they want and bring their designs to life by playing with them when they are done.

What a great toy to encourage building and imagination. I can see how both boys and girls would enjoy this.
