How a Selfe of your Home can Save you Money! #HomeSelfe

I partnered with Homeselfie in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

Owning a home is something that surprises me everyday. I feel like everyday something comes up whether it be good or bad. One thing that can be something that is easily overlooked is how efficient a home is. It seems like every time I get a bill it comes as a surprise even though I should know by now what to expect. So lately I starting looking around my house and wondering what I can change. Are my appliances as efficient as they can be? Are my windows and doors properly sealed?  Honestly though I don’t know much about energy efficiency. Usually when the term “Energy Efficient” is used, its regarding an appliance but really it is so much more.

It can be overwhelming though trying to figure out where to start as far as creating an energy efficient home. Well now there is an app for it! Yes HomeSelfe is a fun, easy and free app that helps users get results for their home. HomeSelfe (pronounced ‘Home Selfie”) is an app that helps users save money with a free evaluation of a home’s energy inefficiencies. Then it goes a step further to provide to a solution to energy efficiency. A normal energy audit done professionally can cost a few hundred dollars.

HomeSelfe is an app, as well as website, that is unbelievably easy to use.  First you input your zip code and a few other details. Then you click on each room of a house and check a few items in the rooms that should be checked. I completed our whole house in just minutes.

After checking out each room, a list of Savings and Rebates is available to check out. It lists the savings and then you can click on for more information. I really like the tips given as they are simple and not necessarily something I would think of.

To give you a complete overview, there is a Homeselfe Report that rates your home. I was happy to find that our house is “Good” but there is still small things for me to work on which is good to know.

Overall, I like how simple and quick Homeselfe is. Oh and that its free. It gave me lots of ideas of changes to think about and made me feel better about my house’s efficiency. There is a number to call with questions for an Energy Advisor as well which is handy.

Check out Homeselfe on the Homeselfe website, Google Play or iTunes.
