2016 Ford Platinum Explorer 4WD {Car Review} @ford #explorer #ExploreMore

I received this car for one week to review in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

Ford is one of the car companies that is an American classic to me. It is a brand that I grew up with and one my kids are familiar with. Ford is also a brand that keeps up with the times and the 2016 Ford Explorer shows that. I got to drive around the Platinum model and boy was I sad to see it go! My kids have been asking when we will get the ‘massaging car’ again. Yes the car actually massages the driver and passenger, which of course was my favorite feature!

Features I loved:

Modern, sleek design – it reminded me of an aerodynamic design, not boxy.

Roomy – This model had a third row with plenty of foot room. Each row fits two passengers with the front and middle row featuring a middle console. It was surprising to me that you couldn’t fit three people across but with a third row there is room for those extra passengers.

Steering Wheel Buttons – This is pretty standard but it is nice to have. I love how the wheel has all the buttons right there which makes hands-free controls possible.

4WD – This model has a button which allows you to change the setting to whatever your road conditions may be. I didn’t really drive on any other roads but it was nice to have the feature if I needed it.

Tons of safety features – From numerous airbags to blind-spot, front collision and so forth monitoring. It is seriously hard to get into an accident with this car as it is constantly an extra set of eyes for the driver.

LATCH system for carseats – This seems to be pretty standard these days but it is an option I appreciate having a child in a carseat still.

Touch screen – This too seems to be becoming standard but this one was super easy to use and navigate.

Roomy trunk – Surprisingly for a car with a third row this model had a decent sized trunk. Still small but big enough for groceries, a stroller or a big ole’ hockey bag! You can also easily push down the rear seats with the touch of a button – yes it was electronic!

Dual skylights – I honestly don’t open the skylight I have in my current vehicle but I like the sun coming through.

Fuel range – I am a driver that waits until I absolutely have to get gas so I love that right on my dashboard it tells me my fuel range.

Easy to use navigation – I loved how easy it was to input addresses and search for destinations. Then when you arrive at your destination the touch screen tells you your total travel time, very neat to see.

Sony music player and lots of music choices – From the regular FM/AM and CD choices, there is also Sirius and USB. I connected my phone to charge it and what I have on my phone was able to be played through the car’s speakers.

Overall, I was quite impressed with the 2016 Ford Explorer. It is an SUV that is top of the line, well the Platinum version is and I know not all the features are standard. The model I received was pretty loaded and the cost ranges just over $50,000. The maximum passengers is six people and each passenger would definitely be comfortable.

  • We haven't bought a new car in years and certainly not one that costs $50,000. I would love to!! It looks like someone could live in this car and comfortably! The one thing I didn't see, which I know most vehicles offer nowadays, is a DVD player/TV. I love all the room and space! But most of all, I love all the safety features!! To me, owning a vehicle with all the bells and whistles is great, but safety is #1!! After all, aren't we all precious cargo! The Ford Explorer is a vehicle I want to check out!

  • It certainly does look roomy and it has a nice amount of trunk space. It looks like it has everything a family needs.

  • This looks like a cool vehicle to have! I love how roomy it looks and sounds, and the touchscreen looks neat!

    Thank you for sharing

  • My husband is thinking of the Explorer for his next vehicle next fall. Thanks for all the pictures and your thoughts on it. Still not sure if this is a good choice for him or not. We are also considering a Ford Edge.

  • Beautiful SUV. My favorite feature is the massaging seats too :) I don't think I'd ever want to get out LOL I also love the white and grey coloring inside and all the room.
