Our Stay at Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort {Santa Claus, Indiana} @LakeRudolph

I received a complimentary stay in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

So first off I was intrigued to stay in a town called Santa Claus. I mean the name sounds magical so how could staying there not be. Well my family got to stay in one of Rudolph’s Christmas Cabins at Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort and it was well worth the six hour drive for us.

Lake Rudolph features over 500 sites including hundreds of vacation rentals, full-hookup RV sites and tent sites nestled in a wooded setting with family fun amenities. The whole resort is rented, no one owns any of the sites. There are so many different varieties to choose from including tent camping, bring your own RV, rent an RV, cabins and more. We got a tour and I was seriously amazed at how many options there were, my kids of course picking out where they wanted to stay next!

Some Lake Rudolph amenities include:

  • Dasher Splasher splash pad, Blitzen Bay pool and Baby Blitzen kiddie pool
  • Santa’s SplashDown WaterPark (this costs a small amount extra)
  • mini golf
  • fishing lake
  • paddleboats & kayaks (there is a small cost to rent)
  • playgrounds
  • gem mining sluice (small additional cost for bag)
  • horseshoe pits
  • basketball courts
  • camp store
  • outdoor pavilion
  • air-conditioned bathhouses
  • game room
  • laundromats
  • planned activities
  • rental golf cars
  • free WiFi
  • Blitzen Kitchen soft serve ice cream, shakes & pizza (including free pizza delivery to sites)
  • discount tickets to Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari
  • free Holiday World shuttle

So what did my family really think of our stay in a Lake Rudolph Christmas Cabin?

We loved it! It was the closest I’ll get to camping and the Lake Rudolph Christmas Cabin was better than I expected. Here are some pictures of our stay:

We didn’t get to experience too much of the resort because we arrived late and spend most of the two days at Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari (review of that coming as well) but we did walk around and check everything out.

The mini golf course is short but fun, enough to tide my kids over before bed. Oh and its free which was even better.

My daughter checked out the gem mining and had a blast looking for gems!

Lake Rudolph is located right next to Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari, which I highly recommend visiting while staying, but there really is enough to do at Lake Rudolph without visiting the theme park. My kids enjoyed just walking around and exploring. We didn’t get to experience the pool or small water park area but they did look nice!

Another fun thing about Lake Rudolph is you can rent a golf cart, which if you are going back and forth from your campsite to the camp activities it would be nice not to have to do all the walking! A few times a week there is also a golf cart parade at night where a lot of people go all out decorating their carts! The parade was amazing!

Here is a picture I grabbed of one of the golf carts:

Improvements in 2016:

  • 20 new Holiday Cottages that sleep 5 to 7 people
  • 20 new Rental Golf Cars that replaced 20 older units
  • New and improved Wifi network throughout the resort
  • More than $4 Million in improvements and additions during the past two years

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Lake Rudolph. It really surprised me with how nice everything was. Everything was so clean and you could tell the owners really care about the properties with all the improvements they have made. Granted so many parts of the campground were newly replaced but it is refreshing to see a place being taken care of.
