Learned It On Netflix @Netflix #StreamTeam

I am currently a member of the Netflix Stream Team and this post is part of my involvement in the Group in exchange for receiving a product package.

You know the saving “TV rots your brain.” I honestly completely disagree with that. I mean sure there are tons of TV shows out there that have no educational value to them, but there are also tons that do. I swear my boys learned their first words and letters from watching WordWorld and LeapFrog movies. As a mom of three, I do rely on TV to help me out and I love that there are shows available that I can feel good about my kids watching.

Word Party is a new original show on Netflix from The Jim Henson Company that is all about vocabulary building. The show follows four adorable baby animals as they sing, dance and play. The show encourages kids to help teach the baby animals new words, practice the words themselves and celebrate the achievements with a “Word Party!” You won’t find Word Party anywhere other than Netflix.

The show is adorable! I watched it with my 5 year old and she couldn’t get enough of it. The characters are baby animals in diapers and really do teach good lessons for kids along with words! I love that its not a big time commitment as the episodes are quick, perfect if they want “just one more.” If you watched Sid the Science kid, the voices are the same, which it does have a Sid the Science Kid creator behind it. I immediately recognized the voices and had to look it up to see if I was right. We have only watched a few episodes so far but my daughter does enjoy it and it is a show that is actually teaching her something, even though she doesn’t realize it!

The show is created by Lisa Henson and Halle Stanford from The Jim Henson Company (Dinosaur Train, Sid the Science Kid, Pajanimals, Doozers), and Alex Rockwell (Pajanimals, Frances, Bear in the Big Blue House) which if you’ve ever seen any of the shows they created, you know this one will be a hit.

Have older kids? Netflix has some more great shows new on Netflix for Kids, Tweens, Teens and Families!

  • My immediate response to playing this show was "that's definitely sid the science kids producer. The movements, voices, animation style match" I had to google it and found this lol

  • My two year olds vocabulary is incredible and I give credit to word party. She naturally moved to watching Sid recently. I noticed the penguin and microphone from Sid in the background of word party. Love little Easter eggs. S3:E9

  • We watch this show on Netflix and it is such a cute show and so much fun to watch with the kids!

  • I completely agree with you. There are so many educational television shows and things to watch. It can be really beneficial.
