Saving Time #moreminutes

I partnered with Great Clips in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

My kids just started school at the end of last week and it was crazy getting all three ready to go back. I had a never-ending list of school supplies to buy, checks to write to teachers, clothes to go through and so forth. It was a crazy week for us and it didn’t help that my kids started on two different days. With three kids though in school, all needing a lunch packed, I knew it was going to be a challenge. I had to come up with some time-saving tips.

Designate a spot for backpacks, lunches and homework. I made sure on the first day I showed my kids where everything goes and even though I have had to constantly remind them, I am hoping it will become habit.

Prep the night before. I don’t make their full lunches since I have to heat up my oldest sons food, but I do prep as much as I can. From packing bags of fruit and chips to checking backpacks, its the little things I get done to save those few extra minutes.

Laundry. I have found that I throw in laundry in the wash before I go to bed and in the dryer first thing in the morning. That way when the kids get on the bus I can pull the laundry out of the dryer and put it away right away. This has helped me from letting the laundry build up.

Rely on technology. I set reminders on my phone and utilize apps to keep us organized.

Speaking of apps, I love when apps I use can save me time and money. From coupons places can scan off my phone to apps that allow me to to save time by checking in. For example, there is an app I use to reserve my space in line to see a doctor and I just head over when its time.

Now there is even an app to check in online to get a haircut! Great Clips hair salons allow you to see wait times in real-time and check in online. That way when you arrive at the salon chances are you’ll be next in line when you arrive. As a mom I appreciate anything that can save me time and having to wait any longer than I have to.

Here is an example of checking in on the Great Clips app:

The app also shows all the Great Clips in your area and their wait times:

I actually use the Great Clips app and it has helped me decide when we are going to go out and get haircuts. In case you haven’t been to a Great Clips before, Great Clips stylists are licensed cosmetologists or barbers.

What are your tips for saving time?

  • My kids have zero patience so this app is so handy you can go in closer to your time and the kids don't have to sit and wait.

  • Just a tip - if you have a front loading wash machine, you should not leave wet clothes in it long, especially overnight. Front loaders are notorious for bacteria/mold growth, and leaving wet clothes in will only encourage this to happen. Also, be sure to always leave the door to the washer open so it can dry out thoroughly in between uses.
