Every year my family heads to a local pumpkin farm. This year we headed over to Kuipers Family Farm (Maple Park, IL) because we had such a blast there last year. I used to think all pumpkin farms were the same but they definitely do have their differences.
What I like about Kuipers is that it you get so much included for the price of admission. I think there are only two activities that cost just a few dollars extra otherwise everything else is included. I hate when I have to pay admission and then it doesn’t include what my kids actually want to do.
I have to say my kids most favorite activity are the pedal tractors. They spent probably an hour going round and round the track.
My favorite is probably the corn maze because we have to work together as a family to get out. This year they incorporated Peanuts BINGO to help entrants find their way through. There were cards that you scratched off throughout the maze, we unfortunately didn’t realize we were supposed to get a card but had fun anyway.
My husband says its a toss up between the haunted house and the pig races. We did take our kids through it (ages 5-9 years old) and it was a little scary but nothing jumped out. It was more so dark with some surprises showcased.
The pig races we missed this year as it had already started and then we just got sidetracked instead of coming back to it. Last year my daughter won a pig nose because her pig won, and to this day she still wears it!
There really are so many activities too at Kuipers Farm that make the farm stand out. Giant tires to climb, check! Giant slide, check! Spiderweb to climb, check! Duck races, check! Giant games, check!
There are the activities too you expect including a petting zoo where you can feed the animals, corn kernel pit to play in and tractor ride out to pick your own pumpkins!
Oh and Charlie Brown was there too!
After we were done, we hit up the gift shop for treats and headed across the street to the Apple Orchard. My 8 year old was so amazed at all the different apples available to taste, yes you can sample them!
Check out Kuipers Family Farm for yourself – depending on the time of year they have an Apple Orchard, Pumpkin Farm and Christmas Trees.
