This post is part of a sponsored campaign for Teletubbies. I received compensation for my participation, but my review and opinions are my own.
Back in the late 90’s I had a sister who was a toddler and loved Teletubbies. She loved those silly friends and I admit I watched the show with her. The original Teletubbies has been seen by more than one billion children around the world and in 45 different languages!
Well now the Teletubbies are back on television on Nick Jr. for a new generation to love and enjoy. The four familiar characters are even updated to today’s production techniques to appeal to today’s digital toddlers. The new series features updates Touch-Screen Tummies and the Tubby Phone smart phone. Tubby Talk is based on children’s first words and is designed to help kids feel more confident about communication. Researchers have found that young children find “baby talk” engaging which then encourages kids to pay more attention to adult speech around them.
The series was also carefully developed for children six months to three years old to capture young children’s imaginations and promote early developmental growth. The show is far from just a silly kid’s show with no value in it! So much thought and care has actually went into the making of Teletubbies. Every core element of the show has been carefully crafted to encourage a learning experience based on social and emotional approaches. The show features a slower pace which allows for kids to think of conversation pieces and make their own responses – it basically encourages kids to feel as if they are in the conversations with the Teletubbies. Along with social needs, the show also helps kids with their physical, emotional and cognitive skills. The show encourages kids to explore, experiment (safely of course), experience and enjoy themselves. Learning through laughter is important as well. Kids who laugh and be themselves are actually building confidence and learning to communicate their feelings with others, which completely makes sense. Kids should be encouraged to laugh at what they think is funny and be who they are!
To go along with Teletubbies coming back to television, a Teletubbies product line is being released. I got the chance to check out Lullaby Laa-Laa, which is a perfect, cuddly bedtime friend. Lullaby Laa-Laa is a 10 inch plush doll that features a built-in light pattern and musical sound effects. The tummy light is perfect to give off just enough light to comfort a child along with soothing lullabies to help kids fall back asleep.
My kids had a similar product that played music and lighted up, but it wasn’t as cute as Laa-Laa. While Lullaby Laa-Laa is designed for children 18 months and up, my 5 year old has taken her over as hers and keeps her in her bed.
It may seem strange to think of how much thought and design has went into the Teletubbies show and product line, but it makes me feel good as a parent that it has. Young kids are truly sponges and they are constantly looking to absorb everything around them. I love how Teletubbies focuses so much on social development and helping kids grow in a way that is fun and engaging.
Tune in to watch the all-new Teletubbies show on Nick Jr., check your local listings for more info and keep an eye out for the Teletubbies product line to be released.

My 2 older kids used to watch this show! We'll have to look at the new one for some good memories. I didn't realize how much thought went in to the show to make it educational. That's great!
