2016 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV Car Review @DriveShopUSA

I received this car for one week to review in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

Mitsubishi to me is a car that you are meant to zoom round town in. The cars are not super fast but they are sporty and feature a lightweight design. I recently got the chance to drive around in a 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport SUV. It was a 2.4 GT AWD 4-Door SUV. I have driven other Mazdas before and while they are usually not-fully loaded or very high-tech, they are fun to drive.

Features:

  • Roomy – this model does not have a third row but it was still roomy enough for my family of five. I will say for teens and adults, it would be tight for five people but I was able to fit my three kids in the backseat (one car seat and two not in car seats).

  • Decent trunk room

  • 4 cylinder engine – this is not very fast but good enough for pickup around town.
  • Nice controls for heat and butt warmers

  • Rain-sensing windshield wipers – This is a feature that I found because some drops landed on the windshield and it was a nice surprise.
  • Sporty design

  • Great warranty – 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain, 7 year/100,000 anti-corrosion, 5 year/60,000 new vehicle limited warranty, 5 year/unlimited roadside assistance
  • Tire pressure monitoring system – Do you check your tires regularly? I don’t and honestly getting a flat tire freaks me out. I love that this alerts the driver to low tires.
  • 4 WD – nice if you are on un-even terrain

  • Powerful Rockford-Fosgate premium sound system with 9 speakers

  • Keyless entry – This is becoming pretty standard and I love it. Being able to keep my car keys in my purse or pocket means I don’t have to dig them out. You just push a button on the door when you are nearby and it senses the keys.

  • USB and Outlet

  • Push Button Engine Start – Again this becoming standard but it goes along with keyless entry and is a convenience thing.

  • Touch-Screen Navigation/Entertainment System – This navigation was super easy to use and I didn’t need a manual to figure out.

  • 22 MPG City and 27 MPG Highway
  • Nice big sunroof

While many features are becoming standard on cars, it is nice to have a car that you can trust. Mitsubishi is known for their technology in cars as well as their warranty. I do though feel this car was a little more than I expected it to be as far as price goes. With all the features (many I didn’t list above) it came to around $28,000. Now for that price I would have expected more premium features but then again SUVs do tend to cost more. If you are looking for a family SUV, this car worked for my family of five but it is not one we would consider due to its price and my growing kids. I feel like I could get more packed in from other car brands than what this came with.
