Cooking With Kids Thanks to Rookie Chef

I partnered with this brand in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

Cooking and baking with my kids has been something that I have a love/hate relationship. I love spending time in the kitchen with kids and creating something but I hate how it much of a project it can be. First there is the setup which means I either have a chair at my kitchen island for my kids to reach or I work off our kitchen table. A chair always makes me nervous that they will fall and the bending at my kitchen table is not very comfortable.

Rookie Chef is a company that hopes to inspire kids to learn and grow, in a fun way of course. They offer innovative kitchen tools for primary aged kids so families can prepare food in a fun, safe environment.

I got the chance to check out some Rookie Chef products and they are a hit with all three of my kids, ages 5 through 10 years old.

Rookie Island Cart

This is a mobile kitchen island cart scaled down to kid-size. From its Butcher Block top to flip up extension for extra cooking workspace, this cart is a perfect starting point in the kitchen.

Some more features of the Rookie Island Cart:

  • Height adjustable up to 3″
  • On wheels so its easily moved
  • Made mostly of bamboo construction
  • Unfinished butcher block top can be used as cutting surface
  • Drawer and tip out tray to organize tools nicely
  • Cabinet and shelves to hold even more items
  • Towel rack on side to keep a towels handy

I found this cart to be pretty durable so far and I do like the design of it. The size is perfect and it has storage which is a plus. I see us getting many years out of this cart and creating lots of memories with it in our kitchen. I will say too it is big so you do need to have a spot for it but with it being on wheels it can easily be pushed aside. I actually put this in our kitchen where my daughter’s play kitchen was, it takes up the same amount of room.

Here is what it was like cooking before with my daughter:

Here is cooking now with her:

To go with the Kids Kitchen Cart, there is a great Accessories Bundle. The bundle includes The Slicer-Dicer, The Mixer-Upper and The Handy Slicer.

This is a great first set of tools for young chefs but don’t underestimate their power. They are real tools and they are sharp, so you do want to explain that to young chefs. All the tools can be nicely stored in the kitchen cart.

Oh and finally there is the Apron with Detachable Hand Towel which completes a young chef. This apron is kid-sized so it will fit and I just tied it up in the back to fit my littlest chef. What is extra cute though is a handy towel that easily attaches/detaches. We have had other aprons before but I love how this is more like a real chef because of the white towel!

They say the kitchen is the heart of a home and for most families it is the central spot where everyone gets together.  Rookie Chef gives the right tools so you can start cooking together and watching your kids grow in their cooking skills!
