Getting your Garden Ready for Summer

With summer nearing, planting, weeding, clean up, and general gardening tasks are also near for the homeowner with a garden area. However, if you are the type of person who wants your garden to thrive, then you have to prepare it for the warmer months to come. It is quite simple to prepare the space; if you are preparing, these are a few of the easiest ways you can go about getting the space ready for plants, trees, and those perennials you plan on bringing into the space.

Tidy up

Get rid of weeds, prune the branches, and make sure you maintain the space where you are actually going to garden and plant new floral arrangements of choice. There actually is a right and wrong way to go about pruning, but Fiskars tree pruning guide can teach you the correct method. A clean and neat space is going to thrive far more than one full of weeds, or one with limited space to grow. So first thing’s first, get the space ready for what you will bring in and plant there.

Create a “landscape”

If you have the space, add in a nice fountain. Consider some hardscape, add a few rocks, garden gnomes, or other decorative pieces. Not only are these going to blend in well with the floral patterns and arrangements, but with the right decor in place, you are going to allow proper space for growth, and limit the weed clutter through the area as well. Keep the space well and maintained, and this will allow your garden to thrive when the warm months are finally here.

Plan it

Draw out a blueprint or map of the space. Have an idea how much space you actually have to work with, know how much space certain trees and flowers need. Make sure there is sufficient space around, so shrubs and bushes won’t crowd things. Doing this not only ensures your garden is going to look its best and will thrive, but is also a simple way to ensure you are going to keep the cost down, and are going to find the best deals when the time comes to purchase plants and other items you are going to place outside in the garden area. You will need garden furniture if you plan on hosting a few people, maybe even a fire basket. They have become popular over the last few months because they are great to sit around with friends and catch up.

Start planting

Some trees and plants need more time to grow; so you might as well get started with these. Find items that need more time to develop, start to plant them in advance, and develop the space around for flowers and other decorative pieces you are going to add to the space when you start to add other items to the garden area.

There are many ways in which you can plan and start to develop your garden area as a homeowner. But, knowing how to start, how to create a space you are going to love, and preparing things in advance to ensure optimal growth and development, are a few things you should keep in mind when starting out with your summer garden. These simple tips will not only help get things underway, but will also help you keep costs down when choosing plants, flowers, and decorative pieces for your garden this summer.
