Unleashing Adult Creativity With Barron’s Coloring Books and Prismacolor Pencils

I received the products below to review in exchange for sharing my honest opinion. Affiliate links are also used.

With adult coloring books being all the rave now, it is no wonder publishers are coming out with more and more varieties of books. Barron’s recently released a whole bunch of fun books that inspire creativity and can help with relieving stress. Coloring books remind many of their childhood and a simpler time especially before all the tech gadgets of today. For me, I grew up coloring and dragging my big box of crayons and bag of coloring books everywhere. I didn’t need electricity or Wi-Fi to have fun!

The best part of all the new coloring books though is that there is one for everyone. Whether you like animals, sports, patterns, travel destinations or just coloring in general, there is a coloring book out there.

Challenging Coloring: Millions of Animals

This is a book that features over 90 awesome animal coloring pages. There are pages that are easier than others, perfect for beginners. I am not an animal lover but this book has so many funny creations that I had trouble picking which page to color! So many different animals and environments to choose from. The only bummer is the pages are back to back so you can’t display both pages if you color both back and front.

Extreme Coloring Tattoos

This book is not just for tattoo enthusiasts, although they would definitely appreciate it more, but rather anyone who is looking for a coloring challenge. These illustrations are definitely a step up from most coloring books and require patience. Definitely, not one to work on with small kids as you need a steady hand for most of the illustrations. Nothing is inappropriate just very detailed drawings. What is nice on this book too is that the back of each page is a paragraph about what the next picture is about, so if you color a page you can display it without worrying about covering up the illustration on the back. Honestly, this book is above my level as I just started with these but perfect for an expert!

Fairies to Color

This is a perfect book for a child or even a parent and child to complete together. The illustrations are fun and they are spaced out enough so its not so tight to color. My daughter is five and loves it! You also get 190 stickers to color and use wherever or on recommended pages. Great book for its price and will be hours of fun! Perfect to give as a gift with a pack of colored pencils!

Life is Beautiful

This is a book that is all about gift giving or of course displaying on your own! The illustrations are ones that you’d see displayed in a frame. They are partially colored already for you so they are also easier to color! Very beautiful illustrations and would make great gifts!

Mythologica: Beasts to Color

This book is all about mythological beasts and creatures. The illustrations are definitely more detailed and require a steady hand. Perfect for someone looking for a challenge who loves mythology. Lots of fun pictures to color and they are one-sided so you don’t have to cover up one of your pictures!

3D Ballerina Theater

This is such a unique and fun book. The pages are cardboard and feature ballerina illustrations where you can actually display them! There is a page with six slots and you pick six of the pages you color and put them in the slot to make a 3D scene! You can mix and match and create whatever you want! I like that the pages are thicker so they can stand up to the constant use of my daughter. This would make a great gift along with a set of colored pencils!

Make sure you have the right colored pencils!

Now I will say it is especially important to have good colored pencils and a sharpener on hand when coloring. Some of the spots you may need to color require a sharp tip and you don’t want to stress over searching for a sharpener.

I like the Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils. They are soft colored pencils that make coloring fun a breeze thanks to the way they can fit in tight spaces.

  • Coloring is my biggest stress relief by far. I think Millions of Animals would be my pick. My little girl would most likely love the Fairies to Color. We both love to color that's for sure.

  • I would give my Granddaughter the 3D Ballerina Theater. She would love it!!!! She loves coloring. When she comes over that has become one thing we do together. It's so much fun making up stories about what we are coloring.

  • My daughter would be so excited about the prismacolor coloring pencils. She would also love the tattoo book.
