How a Stay at Home Mom Can Make Money With Dropshipping

Are you a stay at home mom? Are you looking for a way to earn money, all without returning to a traditional job? What options have you looked into to this point?

There are many ways to make money from home, with dropshipping among the best.

If you’re unfamiliar with dropshipping, here’s a basic definition shared by Shopify:

“Dropshipping is a retail fulfillment method where a store doesn’t keep the products it sells in stock. Instead, when a store sells a product, it purchases the item from a third party and has it shipped directly to the customer. As a result, the merchant never sees or handles the product.”

As a stay at home mom, this is a great business because you never have to actually touch the products you sell. Instead, you rely on a third party to stock the products and ship all orders on your behalf. The only thing you have to do is make sales.

If you’re excited about this business opportunity and willing to give it a try, here are some tips you can follow to put yourself on the path to dropshipping success:

1. Choose the Right Niche

Although you may be excited about dropshipping, you can’t get started until you choose a niche. In other words, what are you going to sell?

It doesn’t matter if you have many years of upselling experience and/or consider yourself a marketing whiz. If you don’t choose the right niche with the right products, you can’t expect to achieve success with your new venture.

Tip: Choose a niche based on your market research, as well as your personal interests.

2. Use Social Media to Your Advantage

If you want to grow your brand and boost sales through your online store, mastering social media is one of the things you want to do.

From Facebook to Twitter to Instagram, social media puts you in position to connect with your audience on a personal level. As your following grows, so will your success in the dropshipping space.

3. Use the Right Tools, Get the Right Help

It goes without saying that you will tackle many tasks on your own, but that doesn’t mean you should never look for outside help.

Did you know there are a variety of tools you can use to better manage your dropshipping operation? Or how about the fact that hiring contractors is one of the best ways to add experienced workers to your team, all without overpaying?

Even though you are a stay at home mom working in a remote environment, you should never assume that you are on your own.

Tip: Use online services such as Fiverr to find affordable help, such as when you need assistance with designing your logo or website.

Make Time in Your Busy Day

Everyone knows that being a stay at home mom is a difficult job. It takes a lot of time and energy to keep up with a child or children, so adding a business into the mix can be a challenge.

The best thing you can do is block off time in your day for your dropshipping business. Maybe you do this before your children get up in the morning. Or maybe you do this while they are napping in the afternoon.

It doesn’t matter when you work on your business, as long as you are making the most of your time. When you set aside time for your business – and nothing else – it’s easier to focus on the task at hand.

More and more stay at home moms have come to find that a dropshipping business is perfect for them. It’s a great way to generate a solid income, all without having to stock products or deal with shipping challenges.

As you get up and running, conduct a SWOT analysis to ensure that you have one eye on the future. This will put you in the right frame of mind now, while helping you prevent mistakes that could cost you time and money down the line.
