I received product/compensation in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.
This summer has flown by, as it usually does, and back to school season is upon us. I have a love/hate relationship with back to school as I’m sure most parents do. I love that my kids get back in a schedule and I get some time without them to work, but I hate all the extracurricular activities that get added to my schedule to drive them to and the endless amounts of homework I have to help my kids with.
As a mom of three with kids ranging from 6 to 10 years old, I feel like a pro at getting my kids ready for back to school. While what works for me may not work for everyone else, it is a good start I think.
1. School Supplies – Let your child help out with some school supply shopping. Whether it be a new backpack, lunchbox, folders or pencil case. While it may seem easier to shop without your kids, it is awesome to see their faces when you let them pick out something.
2. Head to School – If your child is starting a new school, or just seems nervous, head over and do a dry run to school. Even if your child takes the bus, you can still drive them to school and just walk around. Explain where recess will be, where they will enter and where they will be dropped off.
3. Sleep – Start going to bed early and waking up early about a week before school starts. This is hard one for us before we are really lax with our bedtime and wakeup times over the summer.
4. Playdate? Make a playdate if possible. When my son started kindergarten, one of the moms reached out and set up a playdate at the school’s park. It was so nice for my son to start kindergarten knowing some kids. I can’t even remember how she got my email address but was so glad she did. If you have older kids, a playdate might be babyish but you can always just make it seem like you are just visiting with their moms and hopefully the kids will visit together!
5. Don’t Forget New Underwear! Yes I am talking about underwear, socks and all things comfy! Hanes is the perfect brand to keep your kids comfortable from top to bottom, under and over. The new Hanes X-Temp and FreshIQ technologies help keep kids cool and fresh all day.
WIN IT: (1) US winner will receive a Hanes Back to School Comfort Kit
