More Kano Computer Building & Playing Fun

I received product/compensation in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

A few weeks ago I shared about the Kano Computer Kit Complete. It is a toy, which I hate to call since it is so much more than that, that my kids have played with daily. Building it has sparked something in my boys that has sparked their curiosity for learning more. I honestly am quite impressed myself with it and wish I had more time to play with it!

We haven’t had time for more Kano fun just yet but there are a few other cool Kano products that we are looking forward to playing with. Actually too before my kids new we had them, they both added them to their Christmas lists!

Kano Computer Kit

This kit is the simplier version of the Kano Computer Kit Complete. This is still a computer you build but you actually hook it up to a televsion screen instead of a monitor. Once built, kids can explore apps and various programs to learn-to-code. It does have to be plugged in so its not as versatile. It does come with a fun programmable light ring. This is a great value for starting out as its $149.99. I honestly think the Kano Computer Kit Complete is a better value though as it is only $100 more but comes with a monitor and is portable like a laptop.

Motion Sensor Kit

Step-by-step challenges show you how. Drag blocks, learn logic, play with movement and sound. See the Javascript behind your creations. Wave, swipe, poke and shake to make suns rise, music play and mouths drop.

This is considered the simplest, most affordable coding kit yet. Kids connect a few pieces, learn to code in simple steps and then control their creations with their hand! It is simple but enough to spark some engineering and coding in kids. I like the one example they mention about Air Guitar where kids can literally play Air Guitar with actual sounds appearing!

Pixel Kit

This is a device that allows kids to see their coding creations on a box of lights. Kids get to build this kit and then connect it to a computer to work with the Kano app. Creations can be as simple as a few lights and then move up to create games! It makes kids really think about where they are placing pieces of code and what the outcomes will be. There are 16 million colors to play within various frames. There is even an inbuilt microphone to make lights dance to the beats. I am seriously amazed at what others have created with this kit – there is a gallery of creations of various skill levels to inspire and tweak!
