Choosing the Perfect Nanny for Your Kids

Moms who are juggling work and young families often find themselves facing a real struggle when it comes to managing their time. This is why a lot of full time moms decide that the best course of action is to look at getting a nanny to look after their pre-school children. Having a nanny means that you have the freedom to go out and work so that you can earn decent money for your family. However, it is important that you choose the right nanny.

When it comes to choosing a nanny, there are many different things that you have to take into consideration before you make your decision. With your kids being the most precious thing in your life, it is only natural that you want to ensure that they have the best possible nanny and one that you can trust implicitly. This means making sure you check on a number of different factors so that you can hire your nanny with total confidence.

What should you be checking?

Your first job will be to actually meet with the potential nannies so that you can get a feel for what they are like and also see how they get along with the children. Once you have received applications for your nanny position, you need to go through them carefully and make sure you check on the qualifications and experience that each applicant has. You can then determine which ones you want to invite along for an interview.

Try to ensure that the interviewees meet the kids as part of the interview process, as you need to ensure that there is some chemistry there. You can monitor the reactions of your kids as well as that of the potential confinement nannies to get a feel for how they might get along. Depending on the age of the kids, you can even speak to them afterward to see which of the nannies they liked the best.

Once you have made your mind up about the nanny you want to hire, it is imperative that you carry out the necessary checks. Even if the nanny brought along written references to the interview, these could be written by anyone so you need to make sure you contact the past employer and speak to them. While you can do this by phone, if you are able to speak to them via Skype or WhatsApp on a face to face basis, this would be much better as you can see who you are talking to.

It is also important to carry out a background check, which is something that you can do with ease online. This will bring up a wealth of information so you can check on vital factors such as any criminal background that the person may have. Remember, just because it is not on the application for this doesn’t mean that there are no skeletons in the closet. Checking on the qualifications of the applicant is also important, as you need to ensure that they have the skills and knowledge that they claim to have.
