Introducing Kids to Coding & Computer Science With Launch

I received product/compensation in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

There are many fields that come and go but technology is definitely not one of them. The great thing too about technology is it is such a broad area and it is constantly growing. The people that learn technology and are willing to embrace it are the ones who will have a step ahead their whole life. It used to be that a foreign language is a must (which don’t get me wrong it is still great to learn a second language) but if you think about it, computer languages are universal no matter what country you are in.

Launch is an after-school coding program that is all about teaching kids the fundamentals of computer science and programming. The Launch program is designed to take kids through ages 7 to 17 years old through after school classes and summer camps.

The Launch program meets two times a week for 1 hour with classwork that can be completed at home. Kids can learn at their own pace through the program and even receive 1×1 help when they are struggling. The platform uses machine learning and artificial intelligence to alert instructors when a student is struggling or confused. Summer camps are an accelerated version of the weekly classes.

What is the Launch Curriculum Flight Path?

  • Level A – Sphero, Javascript Introduction & Computer and Internet Basics
  • Level B – HTML, CSS & Web Design
  • Level C – Advanced HTML, CSS Layout & Design Concepts
  • Level D – JavaScript Deep Dive
  • Level E – Advanced JavaScript & Animation
  • Level F – Introduction to Python
  • Level G – Object Orientated Programming With Python

As kids work their way through the Launch Flight path, they will slowly become full-stack developers. They won’t just be programmers who code but rather tech gurus who will have their own way of thinking and interacting with the world.

Honestly, I wish Launch was around when I was younger. I didn’t take my first computer science class until my senior year of high school which is the first time it was offered. I am pretty much self-taught and there is so much I wish I would have had the opportunity to learn.

What is great too is that Launch tests kids at each level to ensure they have a concrete understanding of the concepts and kids keep going until they can no longer pass. Basically, if you have a kid who is advanced they won’t be bored because they will test past the levels they already know. Parents will receive regular progress reports on students.

Kids will be taught by industry professionals that have years of experience writing software and have a passion for growing the next generation. Oh and there are no commitments with Launch either, its month to month.

Check out to see if there is a Launch location near you!
