5 Biggest Challenges You Face as a Mom

Motherhood is a wonderful and magical time in a woman’s life. As a mother, you learn so much about your child. You learn how to make them laugh. You learn how to make them smile. But you also learn how to go up against some pretty considerable challenges as a new parent. The early years of your child’s life are going to be some of the most tiring but also some of the most fulfilling. Read on to learn about some of the biggest challenges you may face as a new mom and some ways to prepare yourself.

1.Teething

When babies are first born, they come into the world usually pretty bald and always very toothless. But that doesn’t last for long. Before you know it, your baby is growing luscious locks and has their first set of teeth coming in! But those pearly whites have some pain that comes with them, unfortunately. When a baby’s teeth are growing in, that period is known their teething period. You will notice that your baby will cry more often than usual during this time. But you can purchase and prep items to help them through the ordeal. Read about great teething solutions in this teething guide.

2.Potty Training

Potty training is inevitable for any parent but is often one of the messiest of the challenges you’ll face as a new mom. On one hand, it is an exciting transitional period for your child. And you will certainly look forward to the day when you never have to change their diaper again. However, every child has a different experience and level of success when he or she first potty trains. It is important to stay patient with them and offer them ample amounts of encouragement.

3.Getting Them to Eat Fruits and Veggies

If you didn’t know already, kids are some of the pickiest eaters on the planet. Everyone has their tastes, and of course your kid is an individual who probably isn’t going to like every piece of food that’s put on a plate in front of them. But as a mom, you can encourage your kids to eat fresh fruit and vegetables and make them food that uses fresh fruits and vegetables. You can find ways to make eating fruits and vegetables fun. Try giving your kids dips like hummus or sour cream to dip their veggie sticks in. Some moms even sneak healthy food into their kids’ meals in creative ways – blending fresh tomatoes, spinach and peppers into pasta sauce, for example.

4. Getting Back to a Normal Sleep Schedule

When you become a new mom, you will find yourself waking up often in the middle of night to feed or change your baby. Sometimes you get a little more sleep if you have a good game of ͞it’s your turn to check͟ worked out with your partner. But overall, the first few weeks and months of being a new mom are, well…exhausting. There are a few things you can do as a new mom to improve your sleep schedule. Many moms use co-sleeper cots to help them get more sleep. This can be especially useful for mothers who are breastfeeding. Many moms also try to nap when their kids are napping to catch up on sleep.

5. Temper Tantrums

Temper tantrums are perhaps one of the most frustrating challenges that you will face as a mom. If your kid is prone to throwing temper tantrums and meltdowns, it can feel like things are out of control or you’re a bad parent. Some parents use a wait it out kind of method: ignore the tantrum and let the child scream and cry until they’ve tired themselves. Some parents use the above method in order to avoid giving attention to negative and attention-seeking behavior. Some sternly discipline. In addition to these, there are many different ways that you can decide to handle a temper tantrum – don’t feel bad for giving in every once in a while, and letting your child get what they want when the going gets tough. You’re only human! Whichever method you choose to utilize depends on your specific parenting style.
