Kids Embrace Inclusion With Huggable Ragdolls From Selma’s Dolls

I received product/compensation in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

When I was younger, it seemed like all the dolls were blond haired with blue eyes. Being a brown-haired child, I always wanted a doll that looked like me, which was not an easy find. Kids are all different from their eyes to hair color to skin color and all of them deserve a doll they can relate to. A pair of moms decided it was time for a line of dolls to celebrate religion, culture and physical and mental disability so they created Selma’s Dolls.

The debut collection of Selma’s Dolls features the ragdolls Annie, Lola and Ameena. The dolls are perfect for kids ages 2 and up to play with dolls who are beautiful even if they are different. Each doll comes with a storybook that parents can use to teach their children that differences are special, which hopefully leads to friendship and acceptance.

I love that the mission of Selma’s Dolls is teaching children to love, appreciate and embrace differences so kids can learn while playing while they are younger. The mompreneurs made sure to find just the right colors, textures and size while creating a safe toy for a child.

The Selma’s Dolls available are:

  • Annie who wears a blue and yellow butterfly dress pattern to represent awareness for people with Down syndrome. She features adorable pigtails and a big smile.
  • Lola has a brown complexion and wears a Mexican-inspired print with olive branches incorporated on her dress that’s a nod to Alva-Ruiz’s heritage.
  • Ameena wears a beautiful blue hijab, a head covering, which many Muslim women wear in public. The color green on her tunic has a number of traditional associations and meanings in Islam.

The concept of these ragdolls is something all children and parents can appreciate and the quality craftsmanship features a doll that will stand up to everyday play.

My daughter loves her new Lola doll and I love the book that she comes with. The doll is so soft and cuddly.

The hardcover book makes a great story to go along with the doll and tells a story of the first day of school.
