5 Ways to Save Some Extra Money for the Holidays

It is the middle of the September already which is crazy and the holidays are going to be here before we know it. Most people could always use some extra money during the holidays whether it be for shopping for gifts or added expenses. I’ve gotten to December before with a whole list of people to shop for and then got hit with a big gas bill so I try to prepare early now for the holidays.

Here are 5 Ways I save some extra money for the holidays:

1. Sell on eBay! I have been selling on eBay for 10+ years and while it may sound hard, truly it is not. You can even now sell items right from your smartphone and it takes just minutes to list an item. Users even get 50 free listings so you have nothing to loose by trying.

2. Start cutting back where you can. I try not to use the heat until we need to because here in Chicago, once you turn the heat one you don’t turn it off until around April! I also try to cut back on expenses that are unnecessary or ones that can wait.

3. Start shopping early so you can budget. To save some money, why not use online deals sites like this. I love a good deal and why should anyone have to pay more than they have to!

4. I take surveys online and in focus groups. There are so many survey sites online and if you look in your area there may be focus groups you can participate in where you get paid for your time. For focus groups you do have to qualify but luckily for survey sites they are usually easy to fill out. A few survey sites I use are listed here.

5. Ask at work if there are extra hours you can pick up or bonuses you can qualify for. If you have a blog, I have a great list of sites I use to to earn extra money from my blog.

Any additional ways you can share on how you earn some extra money for the holidays?

  • Great ideas to save and earn money. Thank you for the tips and the list of survey sites. I use a couple of them already and I have already started shopping since there are so many sales going on right now.

  • It is truly beneficial to read this post especially as I start to plan for the holidays. I am glad I do surveys and take them and sign up for focus groups. I have already started planning my shopping for sure. I am glad that this blog helps others. I definitely am cutting back on what I spend on unnecessary things and focus more on the goal to save. Definitely at work, working overtime helps a lot than one can think of
