Fun Facts about Holiday Hosting & Cleaning Up

I received product/compensation in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

I feel like this year has flown by and cannot believe the holidays are just weeks away. The holidays in my household means lots of family gatherings both at my house and theirs. Being the oldest of five and the only one with kids means I host the most gatherings, which honestly I don’t mind. I feel like I have hosting down pat but don’t get me wrong that it is stress-free.

Will I get my whole house cleaned in time? Do I have enough chairs and tables? Are there any new decorations or accommodations I need? What about cleaning up afterwards?

S.O.S Steel Wool Soap Pads conducted a survey on Facebook about meals, clean up and favorite things during the holidays and ended with some interesting results!

The first thing the study found is that the number one thing people enjoy about the holiday season is spending time with family and friends. The second best thing was found to be the food!

Holiday gatherings don’t just happen and they require work both before and afterward.

Respondents for the survey ranked the worst part of hosting a holiday meal to be cleaning up (69.3%), shopping number two (17.8%) and finally cooking (12.9%).

The average household spends 2-3 hours a week doing dishes but during the holidays that estimate went up according to more than 40% of respondents. I know I feel like I am always washing dishes and after a big holiday meal, I have 10x the amount of dishes to wash. In my household, I am constantly cleaning up so I don’t have a huge mess afterwards and I like to do the dishes during the gathering.

22.8% of respondents do the dishes right away while the party is still happening, 60.4% tackle them after the last guest has gone home, and 16.8% wait until the next day.

No matter when you tackle the dishes, S.O.S. Pads are the perfect tool to have on hand to get kitchens back to normal and get back to your family as responsible. The pads have scrubbing power with soap built right in perfect to cut through grease and baked-on food on even the toughest of dishes. Even if you are part of the 16.8% of people who leaves dishes in the sink overnight, S.O.S. Pads will be a lifesaver the next morning.

S.O.S. Pads are not just for dishes either! They are perfect for getting your house ready for your guests. Here are some uses from the S.O.S website – you can even view videos of the pads in action!
