Getting Ready for Goosebumps 2 with some science and baking

I received product/compensation in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

When my sister was younger, her favorite book series was Goosebumps. I remember reading some of them just for fun as I loved other books by R.L. Stine. Fast forward to me having my own kids and they are now starting to get into Goosebumps thanks to the Goosebumps movie that came out in 2016.

My family was so excited to hear that there was a new Goosebumps movie coming out: Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween. It features new characters and a new storyline, building off of the first movie.

Be careful what you wish for. With their after school junk business, best friends Sonny and Sam hope to find treasure in other people’s trash. But when cleaning out the old Stine house, they open a locked book that frees a supernatural nightmare – Slappy! Now, with the help of Sonny’s sister Sarah, they’re in a race against time to get the sinister dummy and all the creatures he’s brought to life back into the pages before he unleashes total pandemonium!

While we are waiting somewhat patiently for the movie to come out, I was sent some fun activity ideas to check out to get us in the Goosebumps mood, as if we needed help!

Slappy’s Holiday Thumbprint Cookies

Bake them if you dare! Frightfully delicious.

Goosebumps + Slime…

In Goosebumps 2, some of the “villians” are gummi bears. So why not make some slime with gummy bears?

Gummy Bear Mocktails

A kid-friendly gummy bear inspired drink is sure to put a smile on a child while watching the movie!

Just grab some sparkling apple cider or juice and serve in a fancy cup. Drop in a gummy bear or two! To get extra fancy, you can even coat the rim of the glass by dipping the cup rim in water and then sugar!

“Science With Slappy”

So the main “villian” in the movie is Slappy. Did you ever wonder what happens to gummy bears when they are put in various liquids? I mean valid question, right?

  • Set up some science experiments with liquids and gummy bear and make your own “Science with Slappy” experiments!
  • Fill cups with various liquids such as water, vinegar, salt water and clear soda.
  • Make sure to label each cup so you know which is which.
  • Set one gummy bear aside the cups and then place one gummy bear in each cup.
  • Come up with a hypothesis for each one and write it down.
  • The next morning, observe what has happened. What can you see, feel, smell, measure or weigh? Write down the changes next to your hypothesis.

Did the gummy bears survive?

Don’t miss out on Goosebumps 2

Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween will be available on Digital December 25th  from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and arrives on Blu-ray™ Combo Pack and DVD on January 15th.

  • The gummy bear mocktails would be great for my grandkids to celebrate on New Years Eve. Looking forward to seeing Goosebumps 2.
